The_Dark
So.. for those that have been following this story... Joe Wilson's wife was outed as a CIA agent and she resigned because of it. Robert Novak was the reporter that outed her. Carl Rove was blamed for it though noone ever had any proof he was the leak... Scooter Libby has gone down for purgery over this case...Robert said he had One primary source in the government and two minor ones (one in the CIA)... He would never name them.. . as time has gone by two oif the names came out... The two minor sources only confirmed that Val was infact in the CIA. Those two people turned out to be Carl Rove and Bill Harlow (A CIA public relations officer). Those two only confirmed what the Primary source had revealed... Robert has named his Primary source... and the winner is Joe Wilson.... Val's husband.

The_Dark
It sounds like a known Bush basher trying to make Bush look bad over the last few years and it not working. This all started because Joe Wilson went to Niger on orders from Valerie to see if they wre selling yellow CAke Uranium to Iraq. His report to the the President said they were not doing it.. he printed op-eds that said they were not... but if you actually read his notes and meeting minutes... they supported the claim that Niger was supplying the Uranium... and then we found 1.8 million metric tones of Niger Yellow Cake Uranium in Iraq. Joe outed his wife.. ruined her CIA career... caused the tax payters millions of dollars to conduct an investigation into who leaked his wives name when he was the one that did it.... all for his own persanal political ends. Msterbeau
OK... He's the source. But look at the context as described by Novak as described in a column he wrote in yesterday's Huston Chronical: "Following my interview with the primary source, I sought out the second administration official and the CIA spokesman for confirmation. I learned Valerie Plame's name from Joe Wilson's entry in Who's Who in America." http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/editor...ok/4040587.html That seems like an odd way to leak information. or perhaps not. In any case... not a brilliant move. Karl Rove still sucks. Since when is it OK to even confirm that an operative exists? That doesn't seem a whole lot worse. If you don't confirm an unsubstantiated claim... the story has no credibility.
Msterbeau
Digging a little further in the latest news and blogs, etc... It appears that Richard Armitage is speculated to be the "unknown primary source" but there's been no corroborating evidence to date. The Joe Wilson Who's Who entry seems to have been known already. Some speculate that Novak's claim that he got Plame's name from that book is either fabrication or forgetfulness on his part. In any case, the entry only mentions her name, so I don't get how that's outing her. And Novaks words about not agreeing with Rove's and Harlow's official statements was a nice way of saying they're liars. So sayeth a variety of sources. There's a lot of little detail stuff to wade through on this in order for it to make any vague sense at all. Or maybe it won't ever. In any case... I think the notion that Wilson is THE LEAK and all the other political motivations behind that presumption are not correct. As for the yellow cake... there were actually 500 tons of the stuff found. Under the watchful eye or idiocy (Depending on your point of view) of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The 1.8 tons refers to the amount considered "possible weapons grade". This stuff was in Iraq since the first gulf war. Even though it's acknowledged that Saddam was looking to procure more, it would have been highly unlikely without tipping off a number of sources in Niger. Msterbeau
SO much for vindication I guess... I admit I know almost nothing at all about this stuff I didn't know enough. So I went digging... What's clear is that nothing seems clear. Every "side" involved in this seems to skew things to their point of view or outright lie. The internet makes it easy both to diseminate news and falsehoods.. And the regular media is just as polarized. It makes it tough to know what the "truth" is. The_Dark
The reporter named his source. It's not someone in the Bush administration and that fact is making people who really wanted it to be... well... upset. This was all a political game to make Bush and his people look bad. It worked for a while.. but has back fired for the most part. Maybe the people who don't like Bush should stop making stuff up and go after Bush for his real faults. Blackmail
Maybe the people who don't like Bush should stop making stuff up and go after Bush for his real faults. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> exactly. I have alot to be upset with Bush about, but some on the far left blame EVERYTHING on Bush and alot of it is pretty far fetched, but then again, the republicans did the same to Clinton, like blaming him for Vince Foster and Ron Brown and since there was no conviction for Whitewater, we have to count that as another example of the Conservatives accusations.
