Loreal H.I.P lip color, a minor gush..

The makeup line is geared towards women with richer-hued skin, but, damn. The lip and eye colours look great on any complexion. While not a long-staying lipstick, the colours Ravishing and Envy are simply gorgeous. Ravishing is a deep, deep wine with bluish tones that makes it appear much darker, Envy is a deep red with slight pink tones to it, which makes it look better on people with more rosy complexions. Comes in handy squeeze tubes or the traditional metal casings.

I'm the only one at my workplace (CVS - Gratiot and 8 Mile) that even likes the line. I'm pale and not rich-hued, figure that one out.

I'm dark brown haired with palish skin that has a little tan cast from the summer. My hair has copperish tones and I blush like a bitch. I'm talking all the time. So where does that put me?

They have richly hued skin. I'm not racist and hate using race titles and all that garbage. Your description of yourself puts you in the 'pale' catagory though.. and I think Muse would look good on you. It has orangy tones that'll compliment your hair.

I LOVE the lip glosses. I bought an eye duo the other day. I'm not too impressed with it though. The gold is wicked pretty but the purple doesn't stay very well. Maybe it's just my skin.

I haven't tried the lipsticks though. I'm very picky about that.

Now see, I don't love the lip glosses. I don't know if it's because they're really thick to me or what. I haven't tried the lipsticks because I'm so stuck on the Maybelline Superstay lipcolors. I want everything to wear like those. Do the H.I.P. Lipsticks wear well and not feather?

Sadly, no. The HIP isn't offered in long-wear, they'll smudge like all the other lipsticks we've grown to hate. They don't feather though. The glosses atop the lipsticks tends to keep the color where it belongs.

N.Y.C. and Sally Hansen both have a lip color sealer that will make most lipsticks perform like your Holy Grail of lipsticks, Madam Starrr, it's worth a looksee. N.Y.C's sealer is $1.99, Sally Hansen's is, I think... $4.99. Available at most retailers.

I have been wondering about the NYC lipstick sealer stuff. It actually works?? I haven't been a huge fan of anything other then that brands nail polish. The lipstick isn't too bad, it seems to be improving.

Yep, it works. I like it a little better than the Sally Hansen stuff, to be honest. Though, Sally Hansen's anti-feather invis-lipliner works unlike any anti-feather thing I've ever used. Including Clinique's offerings..

I've never been impressed with Clinique. I've worked for Dior (love them!), MAC (some goos stuff, some lame), and BeneFit (Eh), to name a few. I've always found something great in some of the less expensive lines. H.I.P. definitely has great product. Even their bronzer (which I use as a blush) is perfect.

Mm.. Dior. I was lucky enough to have been able to sample a few of the products. I have ultrasenstitive skin, and what I was able to play with was heavenly..

Oh yes. Lipstick makes a great cream blush. I hate it when I'm looking for a specific shade of blush, only to find that it doesn't exist. That's where the lipstick comes in.

"People of color" is acceptable to most folks... some people use it to specifically refer to black folks but it is really intended to mean non-caucasian. Don't know where that leaves hypodescent-ers, but hey these are complex matters. That said, I kind'a like "rich hued", can I bite that from you? I like the strong & elegant sound of it... it's very positive & I would like to teach my students to use it.

And a L'Oreal WOC line is news indeed... their washed-out colors are famous for looking horrid on us. I pretty much gave up on drugstore makeup since most around here stopped carrying Black Opal, maybe I'll have to try some tho. Do I dare to even ask what "H.I.P." is supposed to stand for?

& yeah, I know a lot of mainstream culture folks have trouble w/that, which is why I brought up the hypodescent thing. Now I kind'a wish I hadn't... 'cos it IS a can o'worms, the kind that bite & ooze poison slime. Yeah. Hair pulled back, lots of freckles, blue eyeshadow with orange on the inside corners ... Disharmony Look #3. I think she looks hot in this pic, but she's a tad scary with her hair all huge in the ads for Vive shampoo.
