Gauge
so one of my friends is a mom in trouble. her and her husband just had their 5th baby and are not able to leave the hospital to go home. Their landlord controled all their utilities and unknown to them had not been paying them so they were all turned off and the family just found out about all this while in the hospital. If the family goes home cps will take their children away so the 3 oldest are staying with their grandma. This couple is in desperate need of a car seat for their new baby girl so if anyone has a cheap one or would like to donate one pm me or post something. Also any infant clothes would be very useful if you just got them lying around collecting dust. They are currently trying to hold off on their discharge from the hospital untill saturday in hopes to get some stable liveing arangments inline. If anyone can help i know they would apreciate it sooo much.

But their landlord hadn't been paying the utilities so they were shut off, yet they have no carseat or clothes for this little one? ... That just doesn't sound right ... Why aren't they seeking help from the state or charitiable organizations?

As far as the organizations and such im not aware of any in the area.
JaneDead
and, i also don't mean to sound like a smart ass but if they already have 4 children, don't they have "hand me downs" for the baby from the 4 other children? i hope they get all that they need soon and good luck to them. I don't know what they are called now, I know they changed names, but they are easy to find in the blue state section of the white pages by SBC under their specific county. Churchs ... expecially Catholic ones, and you don't have to be a member, or even religious for that matter, they just like helping people ... Charities ... like UNICEF (can be found online or in the phone book), Salvation Army has charity branches everywhere ... I agree with Jane. I have 4 kids and have given away most of my baby stuff that my youngest (2 years old) isn't using ... but with four kids ... it's kinda hard NOT to have especially the most needed expensive stuff, like a carseat. Lilith
Allot of hospitals will give new parents a Car Seat if they do not have one. Also the Hospital social worker should be able to help with information on where to go and what to do in these cases My best suggestion would be for them to speak with her/him as they would know the resources better in their area. Also the salvation army and FIA (it is still called that) will help with utilities, you have to apply and it takes a few days sometimes but they will help especally since it was the landlord fault. torn asunder
and, i also don't mean to sound like a smart ass but if they already have 4 children, don't they have "hand me downs" for the baby from the 4 other children?i hope they get all that they need soon and good luck to them. maybe they're not wealthy, and had no extra storgae room, and sold the old newborn things!? maybe they didn't expect to have another child? i've known a lot of families who get rid of their child's newborn things when they're around 2 or so, because, why keep them!? just a couple thoughts... I'm not trying to be a smartass ... I have four kids of my own ... But their landlord hadn't been paying the utilities so they were shut off, yet they have no carseat or clothes for this little one? ... That just doesn't sound right ... maybe they rented a place with utilities included, that they could barely afford!? i honestly didn't see anything so odd about it, but i guess that's just me...
