Ebay, Shoes, and...................ME

Recommended Posts

How many of you shop for your shoes (and clothes) on Ebay? I'm always getting lucky with my purchases. Today, my fuzzy leopard platform pumps came. They arrived with a matching purse, that she sent as a freebie (LOVE freebies!!).

Anyone else enjoy this as much as I do? Do you get some awesome stuff? Ever gotten something that disappointed you?

Oh-oh- Brenda you're gonna regret starting this one 'cos I AM THE EBAY GODDESS SUPREME!!! There are many days when everything I'm wearing, from the skin out including jewelry & makeup, was purchased on eBay. AFA shoes, I have to be kind of picky so I usually only get Doc Martens on 'Bay... altho I couldn't resist the Urban Decay Vans.

One word for goth grrls & witchy womyn: HOLYCLOTHING. These people reign supreme... at last count I had close to 20 HC pieces (skirts, dresses, blouses, pants) in my closet. Curvy grrls, eBay is also the place to get Delta Burke lingerie at half retail or less... I'm embarassed to even say how many Delta bra/panty sets, cami sets & chemises I own. I hate wearing bras... never did until gravity & changing styles made it advisable- but I absolutely love all my Delta bras 'cos they're so beautiful and comfortable. Best Delta sellers: Rhonda's Fashions & Jessica's Secret.

Favorite 'Bay clothing purchase ever: '70s vintage chain-strung squash blossom necklace, $200 (prolly about half of appraisal if I ever bother to have it done). Most recent: embroidered Apple Bottoms jeans, about $40 ($80 retail). Last disappointment- cheap-looking Hello Kitty panties. I've been pretty lucky, the few times I was disappointed were almost all the result of my not reading the listing carefully enough. But then I've been on 'Bay for 8 years now... you get so you can SMELL a scam listing or a seller who is just shady or dishonest. Which is a good skill to have since eBay no longer shows the slightest interest in policing itself. I guess Pierre & Meg have so much loot now they don't even give a fuck. They apparently don't even care if they're getting cheated out of seller fees, since there are categories where almost every listing is gouging on shipping.

General advice for eBay clothing shopping: *Know your measurements and go by the garment measurements, not the stated size (unless it's a brand you're familiar with). Don't hesitate to ask the seller if the measurements aren't given. For some items with eccentric sizing, like Doc Martens, you might want to go to a local store & try on a few pair to get a feel for the sizing. *If someone has 10 pieces in every size of some hot shyte brand like Juicy Couture or 7 For All Mankind, they're knockoffs. Period. *Read the ENTIRE listing. "I didn't realize how much the shipping was" is not an excuse for stiffing a seller. *Be really, really careful about buying anything from sellers in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.

*DON'T STIFF THE SELLER... If you bid on it, pay for it in a timely manner. Those of us who sell on 'Bay are working on a universal curse that will cause your face & genitals to melt into festering, odoriferous green slime if you even consider not paying for your eBay purchases. Should kick in sometime next week, with luck :devil :fear

*and did I mention- DON'T STIFF THE SELLER. Yes, I'm being obnoxious about this... but it's a huge problem for us and is getting worse all the time... hence the growing number of sellers who won't accept zero-feedback bids.

Happy bidding! Brenda, who'd you get the leopard shoes from? One of the vintage/DIY girls?

What happened? Who was the seller?

I have no qualms whatever about getting on the eBay boards and outing ripoff sellers... since eBay seems to be out of the policing biz we all gotta take the responsibility.

the seller was selling two issue PLCE holsters (british webbing system holsters, cobvertable between a shoulder rig or a belt rig) i won both, paid together and recieved one.

to weeks of emails (well one or two then 5 day wait for a reply, the last asking which item numbers and nothing further since heared)

given them neg rep on both explaining only recieved one and bad comms.

first time i have ever had to leave neg feedback.

on other hand: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=230012560163

that seems to be better than my belt gear aside from lack of holster for sidearm. will have to modify this further methinks to better secure the ffd pouch.

ebay is evil. makes me want to buy things.

Well I'm glad you left neg... one reason a lot of these shysty bastards keep getting away with it is 'cos a lot of folks (mostly newbs but not all) are afraid to leave neg... some shady sellers actually tell buyers "if you neg me I'll retaliate & it will fuck up yr rating & no one will sell 2 u". Always a good idea to READ the feedback, not just go by the percentage... a lot of times people will give positive but make a negative comment. Or neutrals, which don't affect the rating.

Saechalyn, what kind of problems have you had? Items not showing up, or not being as described, or--? I will gladly give any advice I can- there are red flags for shady sellers, pretty easy to recognize once you know to look for.

    • I am currently floored.   FedEx did a massive 6 box delivery to the wrong address.  I had an autoship order scheduled to arrive before this past weekend.  Nothing showed up.  I contacted the order site and they had a link for the order...a photo of all my boxes thrown in the snow and up the sidewalk of a residence that was not mine.   You would think that at some point, the driver would have looked at the delivery address after they kept throwing box upon box at this location with no shelter from the elements.  They didn't even knock on the door to inform the residents that massive 65+ pound boxes were left all over their walkway.  Nope.  Just dumped them, took a photo as they were walking away and left.   I wonder what the person who found all of those misdelivered boxes must have been thinking when they saw them.  Maybe they kept everything to use, distribute or sell.  No idea.  No claim was filed on that end as of yet.   Fortunately for me, one of the sites that I ordered from, replaced everything at no extra cost.   Unfortunately, now I'm concerned for the other items yet to be delivered.   Needless to say, I'll be watching my notifications like a hawk.

    • ~~~~~ Yeah, thank you for the check-in.   Happy to say it was all a misunderstanding.  But she pulled out her "ghetto" and that's when things went South.  I get very professional minded when I enter into situations like that because when someone starts bring the court into conversations, I'm in court 2 times a year, every year, so don't go there with me because I will get legal all over you.   She did try to change what she thought she might have said, but I had to call her on it because it's all in written text.  Then she apologized and we were able to have a decent conversation.   I know I joke about me talking so much that people don't hear what I say except for keywords that they are looking for, but that is exactly what happened here.  She heard "payment", "money" and "help out".  It was crazy.  I literally had to have the entire conversation all over again, but I definitely condensed it to only address those 3 words.   Things are back on track, but I emphasized that if she every needed clarification for anything, please say something first instead of jumping to conclusions, then questioning that conclusion, then answering that conclusion, then getting upset at the answer and taking it out on someone who doesn't have a clue what the San Juan Hill just happened.   But this is exactly the reason I do everything with a paper trail.
