The only one I've ever been to is the one just east of Kalamazoo.  It was a blast.  I've heard the one in Holly is bigger and better by an exponential amount.

There is no longer a faire in Kalamazoo. K-County was being jerks to all sorts of events that used to be held there so Silverleaf looked elsewhere. They signed a lease on 70 acres of land in Calhoun County making them the largest faire in the nation now. Since this is their first year on the new site, things are starting small but it already has many acts that the festival in Holly forced out due to contract disputes. Once you start trying to divide by zero, those exponents just don't matter anymore.

I'm definitly in for a DGN fair day. I've gone every year for as long as I can remeber and almost always in garb, I mean comon' oustide of the club where else can I blend in wearing a winged helemt and battle gear? I'm usaully found outside the guiness pub in the shade listinging to the bagpipes or a local minstreal whilst drinking the kings ale till I feel merry. Usually doesnt take to long. Lete definitly make this DGN event happen. It would be nice to have new faces to talk to during the long day of drinking and shopping.

Sundays are a good day since I usually have those days off and there are no Michigan football games going on then. So I am up for Sept 17th if everyone wants to check their schedule to see if they can keep that day off.

I will definatly be going. And a DGN meet up would be cool. I actually have garb to wear this year. I made 3 dresses for a week long SCA outing that's coming up in a few days. I'm almost done sewing! Phew!

NO FAIRE!!!!! sorry had to. You are going to Pennsic this year aren't you??? *pout*

As for Bringing a sword to Ren Faire you can definitely bring it but it must be peace tied securely and you can't whip it out and brow beat anybody. Friend of mine bought a sword from one of the shops last year and they said that the blade ban was off now. So far i haven't heard of anything changing about that. I'm still not going to bring a blade if I intend to drink.

I plan on going as well. Just not the first weekend as i already have a camping event planned with my group and also I won't be going the weekend of Sept. 8th as I will be at an SCA event in Ray Twp called Battle of the Inland Seas. Small but fun as long as there is no downpours like last time.

UPDATE:

The 17th is a go for me. So if anyone here wants to go and meet up, that would be great. If anyone decides to go on that day, let me know and I'll give you my cell phone number so we can meet up and hang out for the day. I'll be in costume but that's not required to walk around together. Just accept my rogueness...LOL

I will probably be going on the last day which I believe is October 1st. I am going to be going with a bunch of people. My sisters and some of my friends. Should be fun. I havent been there since I was 16 and have been wanting to go back ever since, just never had any money to do so.
