God damn how I hate promoters. ...oops...
torn asunder
hey, now - it's in it's proper place, *the first time*, and not in every forum but... give this person some credit, huh!? and honestly, i think something like this might be fun, if somebody else would pay for it for me... Guest Game of Chance
I dunno, it sounds like its for a good cause. I'm not sure I'm interested, but I don't understand why you would slam it.

I'd try a little bit harder if I was promoting a literacy group fundraiser.

Guest Game of Chance
I dunno, man. I thought this site was about community. It seems you're being more than a bit cliquish. I wonder sometimes who some of you think you are... Especially those who don't even have a fucking clue about the scene.
Steven
uh oh....shitty grammer and not having a clue about the scene..... ....are you two bitches talking about me again????
BrassFusion
I don't think it's cliquish to expect people to *want* to be involved in "the scene" or even just the forum if they want to use it to promote shit.
Guest Game of Chance
Whats wrong with that? Jinx and Chris Rohn use this forum just to promote. I don't see anyone jumping on them. Why should this new person be any different?

Why should this new person be any different? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's in General Advertising ... I see nothing wrong with it. Jinx will sometimes jump into conversations other than promoting ... especially music related ones ... I've never seen Chris Rohn do that, but his promotions are always in the right spots. This person posted something in the right spot. While I do see Brassfusion's point of shitty grammar while promoting a literacy event ... I still don't see anything wrong with it being posted. BrassFusion
I don't remember suggesting that the post be removed and the poster be banned and burned in effigy. It's just lame, is all.
Msterbeau
I think the difference between this and the DJ's is that this is a one-time spam and run, where those guys are regulars and what they post about is reasonably directly connected to the scene. Guest Game of Chance
Dude, its a non-profit. Leave it alone. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/501%28c%29%283%
BrassFusion
When did you turn into the big mediator? Or moderator, for that matter. You can talk sweet neutrality and acceptance all you want, but you're contributing to this threadjack as much as I am. Also, the announcement says that the Detroit Literary Events Group is donating a portion of the ticket sales to a non-profit (Pro Literacy Detroit), not that they ARE non-profit themselves. They may or may not be; the post is poorly worded and ambiguous (ironically). I'm sure they're taking a cut regardless of their status as an organization. I hope they spend it on a computer with spellcheck.

I know this because I moderated AOL's Family forums for 5, almost 6 years ... and your realatively new, so you have no idea that Game of Splat used to moderate on DGN. Nah, it's not worth it.
