What do you look for....

Well, I have been thinking for a while now. What makes a good night club? The music, the drink, the lights, etc? I am just looking for some input here. I know it is normally the people you are with, but I mean without that. What can a club do to make you fall inlove with it?

-Jake.

This has been discussed many many times. But since I can't find the old thread might as well join in.

friendly staff

good parking

#1 (of course) is music that I like. Also, needs to have seating for when I get tired of dancing, allow smoking in the club, decent drink prices, and be clean/well-kept. Nothing worse than having the Taco Bell you ate for dinner take its revenge, just to find out that there's no doors on the bathroom stalls...

I like good music....by MY standards.....

A diverse crowd that isn't going to pick a fight...or be overly invasive....

I like to see people dancing, having a good time....

I hate annoying lights, some are ok.....but sometimes I feel like I'm gonna have a seizure from the strobes!

I don't dig the shoulder to shoulder thing.

I also like a quiet spot in the corner where I can actually HEAR people talking.

Luna is cool

End of the park (9 Mile btwn I75 & Campbell-Hilton) is cool for just a hole in the wall type of place...small, cozy, old friends....

My friends play there for Open jam on Wednesday's!

I will be going this wednesday

they are sort of Rock-a-billy / hank rock...?

Longneck Strangler is the name...

You know, I have no right to judge a club. I am not a clubber, and nor have I been to too many to compare.

There's not enough clubs for me to run down since I haven't been to them all. But based on my observations here is what I have come up with.

Luna - Offers cheap drinks, no cover before 10, sastisfactory music, but not enough mingle space and way to smokey and feeling cramped.

Mephisto's - First off is way to far for me, and secondly didn't they raise the price up? It's a good one on one but with a group of people there's not enough of a dance floor, but the lighting is cool and it's good for roaming around.

I-Rock - Now here is a nice little hole in the wall which seems to be even smaller than Luna, yet has plaques and memorabilia which illustrates where BIG named bands got there start.

Harpo's - Haven't been there so I really can't say. But I heard some awful things about it.

Tokken Lunge - Same as Harpo's.

Necto - Closer to me, translucent lighting which makes for a very futuristic look. The drinks are affordable, and there is yuppie's there who buy you drinks. It's got it's perks no doubt. But the downfall is it's on Monday nights. Overall IMO Necto is a glorified City Club.

City Club - The place we love to hate. It has changed my outlook on the way I see things now. Everything in there is so surreal. You almost have to pinch yourself just to believe it's happening. It's the biggest fucking dump, it's quanity over quality in this case. City Club has brought me friends, enemies, drama, and of course my lovely girlfriend. Moreover, it has showed me that I can relate to people in there.

So out of all the clubs I frequent I would have to begrudgingly say City Club is my favorite.

ditto all this. though i don't play pool much when i am out so i don't care if there is a table or not. but it is always good when a bar has something to do like pool, darts.

i have realized over the years i look for different things in a club than a bar . i prefer clubs that play a certain type of music but if i am just going to a bar, i seem to like something completely different. the over all atmosphere i like in a club is completely different than what i like at a bar too.

and i realized i am old: i prefer to be with my age group and older. not really young people. though old drunk men can be just as loud and annoying as young drunk girls. ;)
