Klaus
for me, I like.... Good drinks. Cant have a shitty bartender.. people need alcohol.. it is a club after all. definitely 18+. i don't want any youngins in my club good music, as well as a good DJ, you can have great music, but if the DJ cant spin..... Great atmosphere. lights, dark, i like those lazer light shows, those kick ass. definitely like it LOUD too. Also i like safe area, I'm not a big fan of Detroit and heard that people have had break ins in their cars at CC Definitely good ventilation it can get hot, so good ac/heat as well i like Nectos Patio, its a good change. I also like the addition of the red and blue room, some place out of the way that isn't AS loud as the main dance floor, sometimes i like to converse where the music isn't making me yell so the person I'm talking to can hear me. definitely good staff. i don't want mean staff or staff that does not converse with the guests. everyone should get along, yet at the same time they cant be adverse to stopping fights and kicking people out. I WOULD allow Cell Phones i would kinda be like Necto and do different nights, factory Monday, college Saturdays... so on. and i would also have live stuff too and have local/famous bands. Thats my 2 cents
Fierce Critter
#1 on my list: Utter lack of pretension. Since City Club has such a supposed filth-factor, it tends to scare away snobs. Which to me, is a good thing. Lesser things I look for: Size. I like to roam. I like a bbbbbbbbbbbbbiiiiiiiiiiiggggggggggg dancefloor. I like to go here, there, and back again. I like having a place to get away from loudness. Most places smaller than City Club are very bad for that. You either deal with VOLUME or you leave. I get sick of having to try to yell over speakers to have a conversation. Atmosphere. I am either lucky or unobservant. But on the whole, I have not experienced the supposed filth of City Club. I have not been knee-deep in urine, feces, cum or puke. I have not sat in any of those, either. I have not had anyone cum on me. There always seems to be toilet paper in the bathrooms now - has been for over a year and a half since we came back to Michigan. So lacking all that, I like the atmosphere at CC. I'm a no-bullshit, leave-me-the-fuck-alone person, and that seems to be respected at CC. I like how everybody from baby-bats to cross-dressers to homosexuals to *insert deviant behavior here* can hang there and the unwritten law is, "do not fuck with anyone or you will be ostracized." I've been to Mephistos. I won't tell anyone that they shouldn't go there, as to each their own. And I definitely can see where people would like it there. But to Jon and I both, it felt... disingenuine. It just felt "put-on" whereas with CC, what you see is pretty freaking organic (insert joke about organic filth substance here). I haven't been to Luna or Necto. I'm 11 miles from CC. The rest, at least double that. Not convenient. And we do not go out on weeknights. I don't like bars. I go to bars that have good, cheap food, and I couldn't care less what music is playing or what the atmosphere consists of. Jon and I go to a bar in Southgate that has a $1.00 menu from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. - and the food is freaking GREAT. I really am not deterred by the fact that it's MAJORLY geared toward getting guys in there, with about 20 flatscreens playing all manner of sports, hip-hop playing to deafening levels, or even that up until 6:00 p.m, the waitresses wear either bikinis or underwear. I'm there for the food, then I go home. The only other club I really used to frequent were Wooly Bully's in St. Clair Shores, and I can mashed potato, jerk & swim like nobody's business. But I don't feel comfortable with the patrons there, and I no longer know the DJ's so I don't go. Also St. Andrew's Hall for 3 floors of fun back when they played house on the main floor, alternative in the basement and live bands upstairs. Tells you how long since I've been there. That's another place that turned suck when they "improved" it. Fuck that.
Vampyro
oooh, i'm not a hard man to please, but i have 2 types i look for depending on my mood... The first one, would have to have a good selection of liquor and beer, reasonably priced too, good music, a dance floor, live dg obviously, but the meat and potatoes of it all would be the crowd, not too crouded, not too dead, but the people can't be snooty and stuck up, shit i'm there to socialize, not take anyone home with me, i'm sick of people acting like they're too good to talk to them unless you buy them a drink first.... fuck that, i aint into no fuckin prostitute mentality. The 2nd one, has to be rather dead, but not too dead, maybe a bowling alley, good selection of beer, ok selection of liquor, pool tables a must, food like burgers and such, maybe a dance floor, but mostly for a place to just kick back, chill out and relax, and of course, friendly people.
