Thank you for sharing that, Mira.

I just felt that it was important for people to know that it's not just about some sort of forced quality time. At first, maybe you'll feel a little awkward. But after they're gone, you'll be so glad that you took advantage of every moment you could.

Believe me, I'm lucky in that I don't have any regrets regarding my mother. Her death occured in just about the best possible way, considering the circumstances. But if we had never known and then she just suddenly went into a coma and died? That... *sigh* that would just be unbearable.

everyone has to do what they feel is right given the circle of people they are in and the family members and issues they have going on.

I can't say myself what I would do because I have yet to have some terminal disease, or any disease actually. So, I guess I am damn lucky that life gave me hell in all other areas except health.

I have had a mental issue, some people see mental things as a disease- to each their own, but I had to handle it and I didn't want my employer to know. I lied and said I had to take medical leave for surgery for one week. Anyway, it all depends on the situation and who you're talking to. Some family and friends can make a bad situation worse due to their own personality issues. Sometimes it's best not to tell some people to spare yourself the agony. :clover

I have several, non deadly though definately chronic illnesses. I'm pretty open about them once I become closer with someone because occasionally it means that if you spend time with me, you may have deal with me being less than 100% (or 50%...). It kind of weeds out the people who really want to know me from those who are superficially around.

thank you for such a frank post, Medea.

Tell, tell everyone who loves you. Because nothing would piss me off more than some effing martyr who was like "I didn't want you to carry the burden" or "I didn't want you to treat me differently" What am I, four?

Just tell me. That way when your punk ass calls me and needs a ride to chemo because your brother flaked, you don't have to hear me cuss you out all the way there...and back.
