I rented a suite here for me and some of my friends for the detroit electronic music festival (Movement 2004) and it was pretty cool. It's only a few minutes walk from all the action downtown which was nice and its surrounded by several decent parking areas including a gated hotel lot. The lobby is nice and the staff were really cool, and the room even had a full kitchen (although standard rooms might be a little tight). The best part was exploring the abandoned areas, the stairwell is full of broken junk and graffiti and there are shady tunnels in the basement with plenty of unlocked doors for some urban infiltration goodness. We even discovered a way into the alley cat club downstairs that the owners didn't know about. There are two clubs attached to the hotel (one in the basement and one on the second floor) and a decent looking cafe, and the owners of the alley cat club in the basement are pretty chill. The city club on the second floor is supposed to be the best goth club in the city and it was packed with a great system and lots of people. There was access to the roof through a kicked-in door as well and it had a great view of the city if you can handle the shady ghetto fabulousness of the rooftop stairwell. The utility guys for the hotel were even running shady tours to the haunted fourth floor but it was too creepy even for us, maybe next year, we'll definitely be staying here again. Overall it was mad fun and I can't wait for next year, definitely don't hesitate to stay here if you're looking for some adventure.

Pros:

Cool staff, lots of shadyness is only an unlocked door away, nice room, cool clubs

Cons:

Someone supposedly got stabbed on the roof while we were there and my friend rich got put in detention by hotel security but luckily they let him go after a few questions

The Bottom Line:

Great for anyone really...families stick to the lobby and elevators which are pretty unshady, if you want adventure its easy to find and highly recommended

I especially love the one that references the "sex show" going on in the "hotel ballroom" hahahahahahahaha I'm going to start calling city club the Ballroom. *snerk*

"ballroom" merely refers to the size of the dancefloor darlings........

& what "sex show"? hahahahahaha

I slept at the Ramada a couple o' times....

...I'ld rather not...

Little do people know but there's like FIVE basements in the Ramada. Think of the movie Labyrinth. Raven used to work at CC/Labyrinth, and I find it hard to believe that these people "found a way into the Alley Cat club that the owners didn't even know about" because Raven could get anyone into any place in that building from ANYWHERE.

There's a way to get to EVERYTHING in the Ramada, no matter which part you're in.

Also, as a prewarning from Raven, he said that the basement walls are SO deteriorated most of them aren't even standing. So if the building collaspes in on all of us on a Saturday when the bass from the CC sound system is pretty loud (i.e. whenever they decide to get something louder than a CB radio)...we're all doomed. That's why I hang out close to the door for the most part .

He basically says, "don't be surprised when it happens, there's almost NOTHING holding up that building and it's NEVER inspected or repaired. It's not 'if' it's more like 'when'."

Maybe that's the reason CC hasn't gotten an actual sound system...in fear of shaking that whole damn thing DOWN!

Honestly...I would just tear the whole fucker down and leave you all with the CC and Lab levels.....or shoot Mike in the head....probably both.
