We should keep news correspondents on leashes

The story according to AP according to Fox

What really surprises me about this is the following paragraph:

Wiig's wife, Anita McNaught, said Fox representatives told her negotiations for their release were already under way. But officials in Gaza said no contact had been established with the kidnappers.

The way this made it sound, officials at Fox News could have been lying to family members of those kidnapped. And this is on FOXNews.com. Souce: AP, but still. I wonder what their spin on the story is going to be. I didn't even see a link to the story on their main page.

its a fine line that the media walks when one of their own is taken.

they often DO have inside contact sources to negotiate with.

and they have to deal with the conflcit of headlining versus protecting one of their own.

normally in thee cases, the differing media organizatiosn will work togethor and try to (try) utilize the press wisely. Sometimes that will involve spin, and sometimes it will involve strange silent periods.

This I learned from Jill Carroll's situation, as I work for her Uncle....

any news, especially right now when they have to fill in 24 hours of news when they can't find 24 hours of news they want to show, makes shit up.

They are sensationlistic (?) pimps who whore out stories to entice, enthrall and program the masses who eat it up like ice cream.

Turn off the tv and wait years until they draw a final conclusion, perhaps, maybe, possibly based on some shred of evidence found years later. *lol* :fear

Well they say the winners write the history books. Apparently news sources don't even wait till they win, and 5 minutes ago is like a decade right?

Jello Biaffra (sp?) said (or got it from someone else) that the news is the 4th branch of government, keeping the other three in check. The government is run by corporations, who have been buying up all the news sources.

Some very interesting stuff, though nothing new.
