cptdeath
i've been dreaming at night since as long as i've been a sleeper. we all sleep and probably all dream. i ran across a dream analyzer book. it seemed childish at first but i understand more now because of it. imagine how they did the research for it. it lists alphabetacially topics common in dreams and what they could be inferred to represent like a horrascope. this lead me to conclude the source of dreams is of course the electro-chemichal impulses known as emotion representing itself in the uncosious mind. every dream is a reflection of the emotions your feeling while asleep. while there is much to interperate in the substence of the dream it is still generated soley by feelings. as your mind picks sensory perceptions, images noises smells to represent what your feeling emotionally it could use images from current memory like an olive you were staring at at lunch or a section of road you passed by. in the analysis of dreams realize it is not the subject matter or the image that is important but what feelings are represented by the situation of the dream. i notice to if the body is ill it effects you emotionally. i.e. your dreams may be unpleasent but not entirley cause of your physical state. so knowing the origin of my dreams and how they are caused has seemingly only made it more difficult to understand my emotions as they are almost random in an unconcious state. in a less scientific note i allways thought it was cool that i could control what happens to me in my dreams. often i would overcome what ever was asailing me in my nightmares often i could make desicions and react in my dreams. this was allways making for great dreams that could be good movies or books. not allways is it a nightmare some dreams are just normal. this theroy denotes that there is room for further study on how human emotion corelates to the mind. it is in fact (well theroy) evidence that they subconsious mind does not exist as we precieve it. if the uncosious mind at work is mearley a reflection of emotional energy then it is up to the subconcious mind to determine what these feelings are precieved as in dreams. this function might be the primary function of the subconsious mind. in hypnosis the subconsious mind is accsessed when a man is in a state similar to the final phases of sleep before R.E.M. in this state a person is highly suggestable but only by their own free will. now i believe that what is happening is that the subconsious mind is trying to create dreams but the consious mind is still precieving information so as your subconsious grasps for information the hypnotist provides it through the perception of the consious mind. in a sense feeding you a dream while your awake. down this line of thinking we could further to understand disorders like sleep walking or how depression causes insomnia. it would seem that any behavior acted out while hypnotized is the same as sleep walking just in an earlyier phase of the sleep process. so it is said it is dangerous to hypnotize someone. now i see that it could be. what if that person harbors such strong emotional energy or is chemichaly inbalanced like say bi-polar. that energy or emotion is the source for his dream unless provided by the hypnotist or the hypnotist is using the counsious perception as the origin for the dream instead of the normal emotion by letting the sub-consious only precieve his sugestion. so there is different aspects to hypnosis one were we use our own suggestion and one were we use the patients emotion to provide sugestion and we simply guide the subcounsious. the for mentioned is more fun but the latter is most dangerous to the patients mind. ]]]now with out any outside stimuli the nomal source for dreams must be the subconsious mind performing it's normal function of relating feelings using sensory stimuli from the unconsious mind. wow alot of big words in that one huh? (dad says "good morning marc" " how you doing" i say "ohhh having nightmares about work." he just happened to say. "opening a new store i only had 4 people instead of 30 it was 5:00 am and we only had 2 isles done out of 8" .) see knowing the source of dreams is emotion portrayed throuth the sub consious does not really seem to help discover the individual emtion behind each dream.??????????????????? Brenda Starrr
I hear that dreaming of losing your teeth equals concerns about money. I want to know if that's true.
jadnifer
It sounds like you have some good information on this topic. I bought a book about dreams because I dream often too, I just havent gotten around to reading it yet. What is the title and author of the book that you are reading? It sounds interesting. BrassFusion
I'd actually heard that losing your teeth in dreams is most often associated with fear of aging or losing your looks. It's a pretty common nightmare for me, but it might involve my music instead. I kinda rely on my teeth and the first thing I think of in a nightmare where I lose them is that i'll never be able to play again

cptdeath
losing teath has been mentioned to me before as a common dream. i've only heard that from people older then me that they had this dream it seems not common among young crowds. it was first mentioned to me by my Psych/gym teacher in high school. we must try to look for a common feeling shared among the dreamers. it was mentioned they would be chewing and spit out teeth. maybee representing some fear of loss. also in the world of direct marketing fear of loss is a key selling principal, but thats different. you might feel like you've lossed something vital to your livley hood. your music your money. maybee it's said to be a sign of aging because its only a common dream among certian age groups? i'll look for the auther an book it was my buddies and it was geared to elementery level readers like 5th or 6th grade reading level. lots of pictures an big lettering. Steven
Interesting. I'll be 40 in a few weeks. I started having that dream (losing teeth) in my early 20's. Wonder if its actually a generational thing...a bi-product of growing up in the mid 60's and 70's......quite a time that was.....
jadnifer
I heard somewhere that if you are dreaming of falling, you wake up just before you hit the ground. I heard that in theory people that pass away in their sleep have this same dream. Only they hit the ground. Always wondered if that was true. Then again, how would they be able to study this? And also be able to prove that this is what happens or could happen?

Homicidalheathen
Naw. I had a falling dream once when I was a kid. I drempt I was Wile E falling off a cliff chasing the road runner (it was my fav cartoon) I woke up on the floor. It hurt. Okay, so the vast majority of the time I don't recall my dream whatsoever. Except every now and again I'll have a dream...and it's about work. Freaking work! And in my dream I'm working on some report, and then the next morning I'm all pissed because it's like "Shit, I already DID that and now I have to do it again!" I mean, can't I dream of candy and naked and sunshine? No, fucking excel. I get to dream about fucking excel. Ugh.
