Scary Guy
If there was a fashion show held in detroit would you go....and what would you want to see there. Funny thing about fashion shows is in most of them what the people wear is so crazy you'd never see anyone off the street wearing it. Also most people are too large to pull off anything those size nothing models wear. Fashion is stupid, unless it's something cooked up by Noir Leather or something... minus all the dildos and bondage crap. I also like clothing to be functional first and look pretty second. Function, form, and then fashion.
kellygrrrrrl
I'd like to see some plus sized girls, and short average girls..... like myself... wearing flattering, sexy, classy, yet stylish, leather, latex, and or some fall wear. Can I be in it? :woot:

AstralCrux
It depends really on the size of event that you're going for. Noir, btw, would probably be very interested in sponsoring. In any case, I was looking into that same concept. For location, because I'm insanely extravagent I managed to discover a friend with contacts to the Renaissance Center for location! But, if you're doing something small the Lab or Necto would work (stage wise). It's been on the back burner for me really because so much has been going on. When do you want to hold it? Are you going to look into possibly making it a large show? If you need hotel rooms I can work deals for those coming from out of state, I was going to- assuming I ever got around to organizing all of this, as I work at a hotel. My friend also has connections with a limo company so transportation to and from the hotel could be arranged. So, yeah, there's interest. Not only that, but detroit hosts fashion shows rather frequently. If all else fails you could get in contact with one of the production companies that hold them. They usually charge attendees about $35 per night for the show. Oh, and Mephisto's would be happy to host the afterparty, I imagine as John is usually quite easy to deal with. I had an old post going about this a while back and there was alot of interest I just hit some financial setbacks.
Fierce Critter
I did a local fashion show once. It was for the ABWA - American Business Women's Association. Actually, I modeled one year, and did their music another. For the one I was in, they featured women of different ages and sizes. We got to wear one casual outfit, one business outfit, and one evening outfit. The store they had us big girls shop at was August Max, which used to be in Fairlane and is now closed. I liked their casual wear, and their business wear. But they had NOTHING formal available for evening wear. The thin chicks got beautiful gowns to wear, and knowing this from previous ABWA fashion shows, I really had to take charge to find something non-frumpy to wear. I ended up settling on a 2-piece long sweater outfit, but grabbed a velvet mesh scarf to throw over my shoulder, and wore my own black velvet high-heel boots. The year I did the music, they dropped plus sizes from the show, which was disappointing. But the theme was something related to autumn, so I put together a nice mix of Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Dave Brubek instrumentals that really suited the theme and dress. I've also been to fashion shows that focused on careerwear, boring stuff like that. In ANY fashion show, I'd like to see women of all shapes and sizes and ages wearing things that really flatter them, and make them shine. Whether it's career wear, gothwear, couture, whatever, let's get away from the cliche of strictly perfect babies in make-up and throw in some big gals, some medium gals, some thin babes, some young 'uns, some older women, etc. And hey - how the hell about adding some GUYS???
