Omg - The Bedroom Is Clean!

Recommended Posts

So, the most major result of "the fucking depression" or "TFD" which it will be known from this point forward, is a complete and total inability to clean & organize.

Once in a while, Jon will get motivated and help me with the downstairs, which consists of an undivided living room & kitchen area. But we've never tackled the bedroom, which is basically the one large room upstairs.

Yesterday, I had to. Mama took residence under the bed after being spayed a couple weeks ago sent her off the deep end of antisocial.

And I hadn't seen her coming out to use the litterboxes downstairs.

And the other night, I "smelled" why.

So there was no getting around it. Time to clean. When things get THAT BAD, even I can muster up the energy to do what needs to be done.

So we stripped the bed, cleared out an area of floor on which we could upend our king mattress, and removed the box springs.

Holy OCD Nightmare, Batman!!!

I think I started around 3:00 in the afternoon. I finished around 1:00 a.m.

We have our own carpet cleaner, and a kick ass vacuum. So I'd sort through the accumulated trash & debris in one section, then vacuum, then steam clean. Then I'd move on to another section and do the same.

Also cleaned dresser tops, unpacked some boxes that were still packed a year after moving, remade the bed with clean linens, cleaned the air conditioner, cleaned the ceiling fan, re-arranged furniture and brought in a new dresser that's been sitting on our porch for 2 months, etc.

I think after all was done we through out appx. 4-5 full trash bags worth of just absolute garbage.

And we also sealed-up the underside of the bed so kitties can't go under there anymore. This also will prevent "stuff" from ending up under there, too. Bonus.

My body is absolutely killing me.

But I am glad it's done. It feels good to have accomplished something so major after such a long period of inertia. It smells great, it looks great, it's comfy to be in there now.

Next up - the walk-in closet that you can't walk into anymore. GADS.

Doesn't it feel good?

Maybe reading about this will motivate me a bit. I *really* need to declutter. My poor kids inherited my distaste for housework so the problem is tripled with three of us cluttering the place up. It helps if I do it a little every day but this summer has been a busy one and things have caught up with me.

By the way, Nature's Miracle is great for kitty messes if you don't already have some. It takes away all the residual smell (that might come back later even after it appears sparkling clean).
