When It Rains,they Crash

It never surprises me that so many people in this state forgot on how to drive when it rains.Considering they have lived here their entire lives.

Moronic Driving+assuming= Crash.

I past 4 accidents on the way home from work.SUV VS Wall,and the Wall wins again,as usual.

IMO Mayby I should buy an armored car,so when someone smashes into me,I can at least drive home still with little damage,LOLBetter yet a Front end Loader,and just smash my way through annoying traffic,LOL

27 actually. I got stuck in it trying to leave work. =(

Hmm... That sucks for you. 25 was the number they said on the news.

All it takes is one screw up and the whole house of cards comes tumbling down. This kinda carnage is a great illustration of how poorly drivers are trained in this country. In dry everyone's vaguely OK but as soon as you throw in this kind of weather and traffic and a disaster is just one mistake away.

I was reading an article in Autoweek magazine last week about much better classes for teens that incorporate vehicle recovery and car control techniques. The whole country should have this if we ever think we want to take training seriously.

when i was watching it on tv they said it was 25 cars and 2 semis. they had it on for half an hour or more straight. then a show was on, then it was on the news again. i didn't hear if the number involved changed though. it looked like quite a mess.

Every single driver should have to take that. I vaguely remember being taught how to steer into the direction of the slide but there really should have been much more in depth training on how to avoid or minimize the damage from accidents.

One of the issues with this kind of training is that it looks like high-performance driving to parents. They freak out because they think kids are being taught how to drive fast and out of control. In a sense... they are, BUT teenagers are ALWAYS going to do foolish things... better that they have the tools to get themselves out of it then leave them to crash or kill themselves without those skills. I'd say it needs to be renewed every five years or so too or you'll forget it.

Amen to all that. We didn't cover much performance/recovery when I was in driver's ed (about 8 years ago), but I remember on my exam the lady gave me some potential scenarios. Like if someone tried to get in my lane and I have to veer off the road, should I aim for

A. a cow

or

B. a haystack

and should I hit it head on or sideswipe it. That was about the extent.

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

The emphasize all the wrong stuff in drivers ed and there's not nearly enough of the hands on training that's really needed.
