We used to go on Saturdays almost exclusively, even before it became "DGN Night". Fridays, we're too tired from the work week to be up to a late Friday night. We always preferred Saturday after sleeping in that morning & having a relaxing day. I can't remember if we even ever went on a Friday, so I have no basis for comparison.

I've only been to CC once on a Friday night. From that one experience, it was mainly that the music was different and it seemed that the atmosphere was different was well. It seemed a little more . . .. I dunno . . . upbeat, perhaps. People didn't seem quite so . . .angsty and such. There were also more "normal" people there as well on that one specific night.

Thats pretty much why I like Friday nights.

As far as normal, depends on what you mean. There are more mainstream people on Saturday, which means the boys are assholes and the girls are drunken whore bitches!!! Not so many on Friday.

when i used to go to city club regularly i went on friday and saturday every week.

the music was different and seemed there were more people on saturdays. i liked both days but i guess if i had to pick a day (back then) it would have been saturday probably.

i have no idea how much it has changed now the friday/saturday thing-- in recent years i have not been on a friday at all.

when i went regularly this was 10+ years ago ;) ('92-'95 regularly)

Friday definately has more music to my tastes.. People are more laid back and less snooty/clique oriented. I also for some reason feel less of the need to dress up alot so I'm more comfortable and so drink and dance alot more. That and alot of my friends go only on Fridays so it's nice to see everyone.

When I moved them the appeared before FC's beginning post. I'm not sure why it happened. However, that being said, the Friday/Saturday night thing begun by lestat_and_lilith should have begun in another thread.

My apologies for the inconvenience, and sincere appreciation for your understanding in my own faux pas.

The friday vs saturday thing has been going on since the first day i set foot in the club 10 years ago. For about the first 4-5 years i used to go , generally , any and all days CC was open and heard this conversation over and over. Around year 6 or so, i started trying to actually compare night-to-night, "The music difference". While , certian periods (say for a month or two here and there) had a bit of a "feel" to them, the OVERALL music theme had more to do with who was DJing on a given night, not nessisarly anything to do with "the night". Back in the day i spent some time comparing the playlists from one night to the next (when i was DJing at 89.3 FM) and they were pretty similar, both slowly trending away from the "tradtional anthems" to the more Dancy/EBM/Technoish stuff.... Both the main Friday and Saturday DJ groups , generally all played the same stuff, from the same overall "pool' of music. After that , i decied that my suspicion that there was some sort of mass-misconception about the music being played was cemented, and has remained my opinion. (although i cannot comment to much about the last 2 years as i've not been there much due to health reasons) This was after staring at a years worth of playlists. Not, "i showed up and chatted with people and listended to some music" the only fair way to make an assment like that is to actually stare at the playlists.

"The Crowd" part of the Saturday vs Friday sort of goes like this... generally there are less people there on friday, which i think people equate with 'more friendly' in a general sense. The idea that there tends to be "more regulars" on friday, too , can be seen as a misconception , as i think the "total number of regulars on a saturday" is the same, as in "saturday regulars" but , because the "total number of ALL clubbers" is higher, the "regulars vs tourists" ratio is higher, thus "less regulars" is the perception. There also are a few key people (mostly non DGNers) that seem to tend to go on friday, the Mr. Popular Going Since the Dawn of Time types, and that , also skews the perception a bit about the "overall feel" a bit.

I think there are just as many "dressed up goths" , numerically, on both nights, its just that the clubber pool total (dressed up and non dressed up) is larger on satuday , so the preception is that there are "less dressed up goths" on saturday. Not that this factors into me going at all. Just an observation.

Not that it matters at this point in terms of DGN, but the reason "DGN night" originally was made on saturday rather than firday was , that was the day , by a large margin, that people were more likley 'to be free to go'. Not nessisarliy that the night was any better or worse, but due to work / life schedules more people tend to have satruday available. (and the size of the crowd on saturday vs the smaller crowd on friday tends to bare this out) I sent out an email to the whole board , and got about 30 replies , about 20 said they would be more likely to be avilable on saturday night over friday. I purposly did not make it "a poll" as its more likely to be biased toward the more "hardcore DGNers" , which , defeats some of the purpose of having a "meet & greet" night.

Personally i dont much care either way , friday or saturday as i am there soclaizing activly rather than being "acted upon" as such. The idea was just to pick whatever day generally most of the more casual DGNers (NOT the "regular hardcore people") would tend to not have plans , already. The more "hardcore people" (which DGNers tend to be more hardcore CCers if they go) will find you regardless, the middle of the road and "outsiders" tend to be going out, or have saturday off more often than friday. Thus DGN Night on friday.

Having gone , on both nights , 100s of times , both have their pros and cons. BUT, they are not so different that it makes the huge differnce as some would like to have you belive. If it wasnt for the fact that "DGN night" is on saturday , i'd just go on whatever day i was feeling more "up for it" and not really care what day it was, and/or if there were certian friends of mine that i knew were going to be there on XYZ night.

When it comes down to it, first and formost its up to you to have a good time, not , expect a good time to fall in your lap, the night, wont make much difference. I can have a good time with myself and 100 people, or myself and a crowd of 1000 people, its up to me, more than its up to them. =)

I have to say i too would head to CC on either night.... hell i can remember a time when i had no kids on monday nights ( befor the kids had school) and i wished CC was open on mondays.... any how

I HAD A FREAKIN BLAST Friday night....... we sat in the lounge area and chatted and laughed till we about peed..... i danced like i had not danced in a long time and i was barley drinking (the people we took with us are under 21 so we stuck with water for the most part) I did not meet any one new but the music KICKED ASS it seemed the dj played just the right song at the right time and worked out great......

I must say this has had to be the best time i have every had at CC.... or maybe the best time i have had in a long time....... Kinda got me rehooked...... I really needed Friday night... weather is was the friends i had with me, the particular night, or my inner child decided to come out to party........ i needed it and i had fun :woot:
