Doctor Who

ROFLMAO

aaaaaahhhhhhhh.....

Well, I'm a bad who fanatic. I missed the show friday. I set my tv to it earlier in the evening, but didn't have it on when the crucial time came, twice.

Dammit... now it'll be months before I get the chance to see it.

Guess I'll just have to start next week.

Why don't we have a smiley who bangs his head against the wall?

I honestly can't remember if it was 'An Amazing Burst of Pertwee' or 'A Rapid Burst of Pertwee', and I'm not sure which is best. But I watched Doctor Who this Friday. I will admit it. To me, Tennant doesn't have that same je ne sais quoi that the best 'Doctors' had, nor did Eccleston have that. I would love to see Sean Connery give the role a go--although that much je ne sais quoi is probably too expensive, I realize it.

Hmmm... gets me thinking. The new doctors are awfully young and sexy... not at all what the general feel was of the doctors of old. They were suave, certainly, but not really sexy. Doctor Who was not a sci-fi romance.

And I think Rapid Burst of Pertwee is the better of the choices, any day.

steady on girl, i cant just hop on a plane every time you need it i havbe feelings too you know, what about my emotional needs

:tear

But... but.... chris... *sniffle*

Do you expect me to just settle for banter? Or for a cold glass of Paul?

I need hot english studs and stuffy tweed suits, brick walls and robot dogs!

I don't know what those things have to do with each other, but I NEED THEM DAMMIT!

Your emotional needs will just have to take a backseat for a while.

Well, that's what I mean: they've been choosing players who don't have the right presence. Tennant has an inappropriate seeming silliness, to me. His translation of the Doctor is more that of a screwball who crashes about and saves the day with luck and little credit to effort or method. That's a fault of the writers, as well--those annoying and too many quips, in the modern scripts. ...I suppose that I don't care if the lead player is sexy, so long as they are completely believalbe. I think it's somewhat difficult for someone to be truly sexy without also being debonair, anyway; it's just awkward to deal with anyone for long who doesn't also have good style. It doesn't matter what suits the wardrobe people choose for Tennant to wear, Tennant just doesn't possess internally or else doesn't have the ability to project, the right fashion for the character he's playing, to me. -I just wonder if it wouldn't be refreshing and interesting to work in an actress for the role; I don't think there's a real obstacle of plot that would prevent that. All right, the Doctor has had a cock for about forty years; shut up! -If not an actress, I'm positive there are better writers and actors available to BBC.

I've just discovered that apparently, Doctor Who means a lot to me, disturbingly...

Believability is indeed the most important part of the role. If Tennant is currently bumbling, we can only hope that the writers intend to have him move on from that, once his character is more comfortable in his skin, so to speak. I mean... I can see being awkward for an episode or two, but something has to snap him back into place. Most of the doctors have had a great sense of humor, but silliness was always something that was crafted into the script, not just expected to make sense inside of the larger picture after seeing it all.

And, I doubt Doctor Who is really all that important to you. We're talking about fairly open ended issues. We could be passionate about General Hospital. It's just someting to lash onto.

But in the meantime, I think it's a quality distraction.

hmm... just for the record... I won't actually get passionate about General Hospital. Rocko's Modern Life, on the other hand, I could do.

I happen to dig General Hospital.

  • 1 month later...

I was just getting into last season when I was derailed by the whole new doctor.

That being said, I do have a newfound fascination with the INTENSE stroylines they seem to be throwing our way each week. This new dr. is growing on me sort of.

This is NOT a spoiler, but let me just say that if anyone was having trouble adapting to the new dr. this season you are going to HATE how things end up this season. Nuff said. *zips lips*
