Which Songs Are Amazing To You Lately?

I'm not sure if many other people are like me or not regarding music, however I sort of perpetually go through phases where (besides songs I may listen to at random) I have a a few songs that I listen to much more than those others, until I know every lyric and every change. This last week or about, as normal, I've had a few song I've really been into~

Electronic, Get the Message has been on my stereo much this week. I'm always listening to something Johnny Marr played on, always. The sort of break in that song has a lot of energy, for me.

Sufjan Stevens, Flint (For the Unemployed and Underpaid) is another one. Probably this one more than any other, lately. Someone's post on this web site led to my rediscovering this song, actually. Such a sad, pretty song. I listened to it over and over on this Saturday night. Sunday aft, I transcribed the piano music for guitar and play it until almost death. And then I wrote music sort of inspired from playing that song so much.

Modest Mouse, Flat On. 'Was reading about 'Marr joining 'Mouse and I had to get my head around what might be in the future for 'Mouse, by finding Marr-esque Mouse songs. And I think I hadn't listened to Flat On in a while.

Shitdisco, Reactor Party, is a good song from a good band I've just discovered a couple weeks ago through In New Music We Trust. I feel like I'm slow. I thought the bands name was great enough to warrant listenership, but actually, as is probably natural, a good title is a nice indication of talent. -Youthful energy. The kids in Edinburgh have it best.

I Was A Cub Scout, Pink Squares, a group In New Music We trust introduced, only this week. I've listened to this song a bit because I'm trying to figure out what this band is about--unfortunately, they are yet unsigned, I gather, I've not found anything else I Was A Cub Scout, yet.

To be continued...

really just about anything by the smashing pumpkins is amazing to me

theres just something about they way the sound that gets to me

I remember Gish as a being a cool album. But I probably have not kept up with this group in years, I just haven't. -Kind of unusual how Smashing Pumpkins music seems so tranquill with the level of distortion effects they use.

I'm going to check some of these out. Some I have never heard of.

I am very tired of my music lately and feeling very uninspired. I really need something new and different to listen to.

Besides all of the obvious benefits of being in a happy, committed relationship... I also got access to Carla's vast collection of music. I've ripped a ton of her CD's and haven't come close to listening to all of it yet. I recommend one of two things: Kill me an date Carla, or find a man with a great collection of music.

Peter Murphy, "Cuts You Up". I re-discovered this one since it's been on the DGN rdio playlist, & it's amazing... I hear that string intro & I'm instantly transported back in time, lying on my raggedy old futon being dopesick as a dog, waiting for whoever to show up with my do... now, you might not think that's anything to be nostalgic about- and you'd be right. But it's gratifying in a twisted way to remember that part of my life, & congratulate myself for not still being there.

BTW for those who are bored with their current musical space, I highly recommend Live365.com... there's an awesome range of genres & subgenres to play around with. It's free & the sign-up is pretty un-obnoxious as these things go. I discovered it a couple months ago & my musical horizons have been broadened immensely... I find I'm especially partial to Middle Eastern hip hop these days, and just today I discovered a station that plays nothing but music from porn movies. Bow chica wow-wow!

    • Feeling happy to report that my neighbor and her cat are now back together.  I build her fur baby an indoor Cat Run and now the cat and her 3 kittens have been moved in.  I told my neighbor to make sure the little ones stay with their mother for at least 3 days in their new environment before she starts letting people handle and take the babies away.    I wish she would keep at least one of the 3 kittens, but apparently they are all already spoken for.

    • Well it happened, understandably but it still sucks.  I hated them both so I was going to be unhappy either way, but I do admit I hate Trump slightly more because of the narcissism, egomania, xenophobia, and misogyny.  On top of that that insufferable base of his who think that they are free to act the same way now that he's won.  The apologetics from them were horrible too where they handwaved away legitimate criticisms, and mocking those who brought them with "orange man bad!"   The one good thing to come out of this is punk music is going to absolutely rock for the next few years.  However I really just have one question... https://www.loudersound.com/features/andrew-eldritch-sisters-of-mercy-will-make-another-album-if-trump-is-elected IT'S HAPPENED TWICE NOW ANDY, WHERE'S OUR FUCKIN' ALBUM‽ Well, I guess at least I'll get to keep my guns.
