Just be careful that you don't eat too much too fast. I had a steak after about 2 years of vegen and ended up with a stomache ache that lasted for 3 days. It was very painful. I'd suggest easing your way back into it. I love the taste of meat as well, especially a very bloody steak (yummy) but I went veggie for health reasons. It didn't work out too well for me, I really didn't see any benfits, my cholestoral was still sky high and the Doc put me on meds for it. I went back to eating meat and have now stopped the meds because my cholestoral has lowered significantly. I've come to believe that it's not what you eat, it's the pills you take :fun:

I did eat a bit of red meat a month ago and got kinda sick. But a table spoon or so of chicken and fish seems to be doing me good....I am actually going potty easier, even though it has no fiber.

I was talking to my native american friend who went through the same thing and had the same result so I am thinking maybe I was ment to eat a bit of meat at least...and I am not tired and faint all the time now....so its working.

And, did I mention.....its delicious???

Yum chicken bowls from KFC and Tuna!

All humans are born with enzymes in their stomachs to help us digest meat. (Which shows that we're supposed to eat meat.) If someone goes vegan, without meat to digest eventually these enzymes go away. Attempting to introduce a lot of meat into your system without these enzymes will make you go sick. A little bit of meat is digestable but it will take time for your body to build these enzymes back up.

Here is the thing. I ate very healthy for years and was total vegan and ended up really sick and almost died with a colon tumor. Few more years later of eating healthy and got divers.

The vegans at peta say people who eat meat get more colon cancer?

Well look at me.....wtf????

Then, pregnant women who are vegan....do their babies still get enough of these enzymes when they are born?

And.......new borns only consume milk or formula.....how do they process meat when they are ready?

The only things I am finding online are sights selling enzyme supplements....I have not found any info.

I am very interested in the vegan/pregnancy/baby enzyme facts.

I ate meat when I was pregnant just to be safe then stopped after I had them, again..so I don't know what it would have been like for them If I hadn't.

like maeve said, definately ease back into it. i am not a vegan or a vegetarian (though i hardly eat any meat ever) but i notice when i do eat more meat than usual i end up feeling a bit sick. sort of like a big heavy brick in my stomach.

i like steak, roast beef, corned beef and ribs too much to actually be a vegetarian - but eating too much of it always makes me sick!

i stay away from ham, turkey, chicken, fish, hamburger - but that is more of a taste preference. i hate all those things.

though i did have a bit of a hamburger yesterday... odd. :p

i always wonder how vegans do it?? it is so hard to watch what you eat that closely. it is very limiting. also vegans don't use honey. and i love honey. so screw that. ;)

but being "vegan" means not using ANY animal products or products made by them. (ie. eggs, cheese, etc. meat OR dairy. and hard-core vegans don't use honey because it is *made* by bees. and they won't even use animal products for other things- such as leather, fur, etc.)

i probably won't ever be a vegetarian (like i said- like steak, some lunch meats once in a great while) but i try to eat organic when i can (eggs, cheese, cereals, milks) so at least i feel better about that. ;)

i hope your new diet doesn't end up making you sick like you have been in the past. i know some people who DO feel better eating meat so since you are again i hope that happens for you too.

I eat chicken and fish once in awhile, but not very often, because I like it. I haven't eaten red meat or pork in years except for the occaisional drunken slip up )ordering chilli cheese fries because I'm wasted and starving), which is maybe 1-2 times in a year. I get sick when I eat those things. I feel so much better when I don't eat meat.

Hopefully your medical conditions will get better, HH. =)

I never really understood the vegan way of life really... It works for some people, but there's no way i could ever attempt that. I did have a vegan friend a few years back when i was in the marines, and his body turned to hell so fast because of it, he had to take vitamins and suppliments so his body could get nutrience it needed that vegetables were rare in. His reason, and he was a hard core vegan, is he felt it was wrong to use animals for ourselves when we could survive without harming them... I'm not slamming vegans in anyway in this but...

Animals in the wild kill other animals, their own brothers and sisters for survival to get more food from parents ect, lions kill the cubs of another male when they take over a female pride so the lionesses will have their cubs sooner. And we are omnivores, meaning we eat both meat and vegetable. Be vegan if any of you want, but please spare that sad exucse that it's wrong, nature ain't a disney movie... it's more like a texas chainsaw massecre movie.

Also, once the guy switched back to meats, he started looking healthier, and feeling alot better. Going vegan is a personal choice, but based on what i've seen and learned, you gotta be careful about doing it, you have to take those suppliments. You can live doing this, but it's very hard on your body.

Some quotes I've heard poking fun at vegans.

"You eat what food eats."

and

Vegan: "You know an animal had to die to give you that food."

Meat Eater: "And do you know why that animal died? Because you ate all its food!"

Vegan: *runs off crying*

First of all, Peta will say anything and everything to get people to stop eating meat. Peta consists of a group of people who are borderline insane and the only reason they aren't locked up with the rest of the nuts is because they're not violent enough. Close, but not enough.

Anyway.

Meats are a part of a healthy balanced diet. People who don't eat meat get old looking really fast. And it shows, too. I've seen so many "life-long" vegetarians who look like the cryptkeeper. Because their bodies are lacking nutrients gained from fish, poultry, and red meats.

But hey, I don't care what you eat. Just don't tell me what I can't eat. That's why I hate Peta. Passionately.

ALF is. The Animal Liberation Front. And they get indirect funding for their terrorist actions (like firebombing animal testing facilities at Michigan State) from PETA. Watch the Penn & Teller's "Bullshit" episode on PETA. It will make you hate PETA even more.

I've been a vegetarian for about 5 years now. I could never be a vegan, the rules are too strict, and what little vegan food I've tried was so bland I felt like I was eating paper. I'm not strict about being a vegetarian, if something's prepared with a little meat flavoring, I'll still eat it. I'm a vegetarian only because I don't like the taste and texture of meat. I could care less what animal products others eat/wear. "Political" vegetarians and vegans annoy me as much as they do everyone else.

i must quote Luitenant worf of star fleet. " in order for something to survive something else must be destroyed"

all us top predators agree elk is by far the greatest of meats and for fish the tropical delicacy called grouper.

the consumption of the flesh is the same principal as consuming the body of christ on sunday. god is in all things so enjoy each flavor.

oww socially it's frowned upon to consume your own kind. I allways wanted my friends to consume my flesh at my funeral but thats wack. the eating of the dead was banned long ago.

think of it as helping evolution with a constant state of change as you gather energy from the flesh.

i used to be the type of vegaterian that only eats other vegaterians. but whatever. :ice:
