Emo is almost a replica of how goth became goth in a very broad sense. Sort of like maybe what would have happened if goth never did.

Goth started out as post-punk/punk-newwave with a darker spin.

Emo is a post-punk movement with a darker spin without the direct line to the horror genres.

Certianly not the same but there are a lot of similairities. Emo is much less of a "lifestyle" than goth is , and is typcially less historical/literary minded. Taken with a grain of salt and a very lose concept of what goth is, emo could be considered goth.

A buddy of mine used to say:

"Emo is for people without the balls to admit they are goth in public" lol

Only problem with that is if someone looks hard enough, anyone following their own sense can be clasifyed into a social circle weather they like it or not.

Whereupon they can be rubberstamped and rejected by every other circle. Which is just what the establishment wants from us, I'm sure.
