Canadian Zyrtec Source

My former eBay source disappeared. I was paying about $45.00 for 100 pills through them.

I did some online research the other day, and ended up ordering from GetCanadianDrugs.com. I got a confirmation from the Canadian post office via Email today - so at I'm relieved to see it's shipped and trackable.

I paid $29.99 plus $13.99 shipping for 72 tablets. They had cheaper shipping available, but I went with the expidited shipping since I'm having such a hard time right now.

I actually ordered Cetirizine - the generic form (cetirizine hydrochloride is the active ingredient in Zyrtec). This is what I've been using for 2 years - and it's worked just as good as U.S.-made brand-name Zyrtec.

Basically, I'm paying .61 cents per pill. If I get it via my insurance coverage, I pay a copay of $40 a month - $1.33 a pill. If I order a larger quantity, shipping doesn't increase so it's even cheaper yet.

If you're a Zyrtec user and are interested in ordering from Canada, I'll let you know how this goes. Supposedly, they've never had a shipment seized at the border, and I never had that problem from my other suppliers.

By the way - this is also cheaper than going across the Ambassador Bridge - I did so when I visited Michigan last year and with the costs of bridge travel, etc. it didn't work out cheaper.

I can get the Zyrtec/Cetirizine because it is over-the-counter in Canada. Some websites require a copy of a prescription if it's required in the destination country. This one did not - though I was waiting to see if an e-mail would come saying they couldn't process my order without one. Apparently it wasn't an issue.

One of these websites will take a faxed prescription from your doctor. There are others I personally wouldn't trust that have a sort of "auto doctor" who will do a so-called "consult" with you and write the "prescription" themselves. These sorts have been covered on shows like 20/20 and 60 Minutes. Frankly, I wouldn't deal with those if I could help it.

Check getcanadiandrugs.com to see what the policy is for your scrip, GM. Thusfar, they seem pretty trustworthy and well priced.

I'll follow-up with the progress of this as things progress.

I would need to look up the specific information for you folks, but I know that the drug companys, doctors and the government are already trying to pass laws that limit Americans from buying drugs outside of the USA. This could be why the Canadian sources are drying up.

i have looked in to this befor and not had much luck..... i more or less was wondering what good sources may be out there........ although i do have to say i got thinking and made some calls and well i found my script which cost $90 for 30 pills at walgreens

well at COSTCO it costs +- $15 for 90 pills

the doc gave me a 3 mnth script so i dont have to come back n spend more $ on the visits ( i dont have health insurance)

wtf why the hell is walgreens charging so much or what does costco know that no one else does..... needless to say i will definatly go to costco and you dont need to be a memeber to use the pharmacy there

L&L - Sorry I referenced GM instead of you in my response there. I didn't take the time to check before I replied.

I saw a bit on one of those news magazine shows (20/20 or 60 Minutes again) about the cost of prescriptions based on where you get them. this has never been an issue for me, because for at least the past 10 years, I've had copays - so it doesn't matter where I got them, it was always the same price.

But there IS a difference, depending on where you go. And I do believe Costco was usually the lowest.

It is permissible to call pharmacies and ask them what they charge for your scrip. You might try Wal-Mart and K-mart, too. My dad gets his from K-mart, so they MUST be well priced.

I didn't know you didn't have to have a Costco membership to use their pharmacy. That's good to know. Once we move to Michigan, there could be a time period when we dont' have insurance, and will need to purchase our own scrips directly.

As for my cetirizine, according to the tracking page, it arrived in the U.S. at 1:00 yesterday. So far so good.

My thinking is this....if scripts wern't so high priced in the US then we wouldn't be buying them from Canada!

We only get a discount of our scripts. Bishop uses Flonase and we paid over $60 for it at Meijers.

I didn't know that Costco had a pharmacy.....we've been thinking about getting a membership.

NP FC i knew what you ment

i have often in the past called around about scripts

i have often had to pick up three diffrent scripts from three difrent place because each difrent place had a better price for atleast one of the ones i needed

my mother in law every few years pays for us to get a costco membership that how i knew about the pharmacy. I do know for a fact you do not need a membership to use the pharmacy, also a few thing you need to know, they do not accept any type of government funded insurance, so if you have medicaid or medicare they will not accept the insurance,

{Now that i think of it, perhaps because costco refuses to deal with the GOV. perhaps they are not pressed to follow there "policies", maybe thats why they are cheaper......just a thought}

I will how ever have to check k- mart or walmart (the next time i get a script) just to see, now that those place have been suggested, if i find anything out i will let ya know... might be a while cause i avoid the dr and stuff since i dont have HI.

As far as buying Canadian drugs being illegal, when I was back in Michigan last year, I went across the Ambassador bridge, intending to pick up some of their over-the-counter Reactine (same as Zyrtec). Before I even went across to Canada, I stopped at the customs office and asked what restrictions were on bringing over-the-counter Canadian drugs back to the U.S. They only restriction the officers gave me was it couldn't be more than a 3-month supply.

There may be some distinctions between prescription and non-prescription drugs, I don't know for sure.

All I know is that without being able to purchase my meds from Canada, the U.S. policy would cause my life to be a living hell financially and health-wise.

Picked up my meds from the post office yesterday, and took my first one last night.

I'm already seeing an improvement. Normalcy, here I come!

The package was marked "personal health care" for customs. The only reason I had to go pick it up was 'cause it was sent delivery confirmation, and the post office prefers a signature for that.
