I was talking to my friend, S, and she asked me how I was doing and I said, "Let's see, I'm working 60 hours a week, and what time I'm not spending at work, I'm studying for school. My friends and family have left me so many voicemails and emails that both inboxes are full and I haven't had time to return a single one. I can't get my husband to understand that this Christmas we can't afford to spend money on eachother. And my bathroom faucet leaves big puddles in the basement."

And my friend, S, said, "Oh poor you. Seven percent of people in Michigan have no work at all, and you are so indispensable that your work is paying you DOUBLE to do your job. You have a house, a little piece of the world that is all your own. You painted your room purple, because you could. You have school at night, which your work pays for, and which will open up doors for you that right now you can't even imagine. You have a husband who refuses to buy you cheap gifts, because he thinks you are priceless. And your friends and family love you so much that even when you are a complete ass, they won't leave you alone."

So, what I am most thankful for, is friends who have eyes big enough to see the world for how it really is and balls enough to put a sassy girl in her place every now and again.

Forgive the mood of this post please. I know I should be thankful the friends I have and such but the last 6 years have yaken their toll. I know others have suffered worse emotionally and medically but most of my life has been one disappointment after another to me. Yeah it's probably stupid stuff I'm letting get to me but it got to me. I plan on wearing a shirt that says the deceased to CC for my 49th birthday. A friend said he thought I would do that for my 50th, I looked right at him and said I don't plan on seeing my 50th. So while I should be thankful for my friend, I can't help but think have I really given anyone anything to be thankful for involving me. I'm glad people have things to be thankful for. I just wish I was one of them. Sorry to be a downer in this thread but I needed to vent. Forgive me for messing up the thread.

Dude,

your bootstraps.

reach down, pull em up.

you become what you speak.

you speak and reinforce defeat, defeat becomes you.

sounds stupid I know.

but its also true.

remember Eeyore (sp??) from Winnie The Poo? Stop being an Eeyore.

you cant beg for a good life, you have to fight to build one.

if your unfulfilled, and have had hard luck (and most of us have) then re-route.

give back. Serve others. It does not take $$ to do that, or a car. There are many ways to do that. It takes the focus off of yourself. It broadens the spectrum of who interacts with you, it creates possibilities for change.

your daughters are little sweet hearts. when you come back home, if you can, we should get together - us with all our kids. i was going to suggest meeting up before you left but figured you would be busy doing stuff to move.
