glc
Kind of off topic, but you made me think about it - I had this really bizzare thing happen a couple of years ago, during the night everyone in my house heard the door open and thought that was kind of wierd, but no-one checked it out. Anyway, I woke up at one stage and was really wet and cold, and my girlfriend at the time said that she rolled over and I wasn't there! This really freaked me out because I sleep naked. Where the hell did I go? Where ever I went I was cold, wet, and naked!!
Rayne
I have been perscribed Ambien before, it works ... very well.
BrassFusion
It worked ok for me. It works way too well for my dad, if you know what I mean. Only thing I could recommend is to just not take it if you're going to be sleeping in the presence of anyone else, unless your doc told you to take it EVERY night. Fierce Critter
Not to claim any authority above that of your doctor... ...but Ambien is potentially habit-forming. I have sleeping problems, but have avoided going to my doctor for things like Ambien or Lunesta lest I become dependent. I was using Benadryl to put me out. But RosyBlue recommended I try Melatonin, a "natural" sleep aid you can get in the vitamins section of any store. I was skeptical, as I'm somewhat naturally resistent to the effects of sleep aids. But I picked up a bottle of the super-strength tablets, and gave them a try. SHIT. Damn. Golly gee whiz. This stuff works, and works WELL. Turns out this super-strength stuff actually packs too much of a wallop, so I break them in half and take half instead. I'm not one to generally recommed going against a doctor's instructions. But this is food for thought. By the way, Jon talks in his sleep. Bad. Sits up, opens his eyes, and talks "to" me. Usually, it's dirty, and he's trying to make moves on me. But I can tell he's asleep because his eyes are bloodshot and sort of glassy, and I just tell him "lay down and go back to slee" and he does, and immediately is snoring again. But he has had a few instances of being active in his sleep, too. And they can be quite disturbing. Once, he even bathed the dog in his sleep. I thought he was drunk. He even asked me where the shampoo was. We didn't realize he was sleeping until the next day when I made a comment to him about how the dog smelled nice. He asked me why, and I said because of his bath last night. He didn't say anything at first, but called me back minutes later and asked me when he bathed the dog. He didn't remember ANY of it. And that's when things started clicking - including the fact that his eyes had been bloodshot while doing this, and that the instant he was done bathing the dog, he laid down in bed and was instantly asleep. He's being treated for sleep apnea now. I wonder if this is going to stop.
BillyDeath
I actually experimented with using ambion. An old buddy of mine let me try a capsule of his. I went right to sleep and slept for over twelve hours.
Nienna
I have been prescribed Ambien but I rarely take it. My issue is in falling asleep and it really doesn't help me with that at all. If I make it to sleep on it, I sleep like a rock, and wake up all druggy all day. Meh.
