Dry, Cracked, & Flaky

Recommended Posts

A recent bout of allergies and rough tissues at hand have resulted in a really badly dry, flaky condition around my nose & upper lip.

I already have a dry skin problem in the winter. Have a humidifier going, but it only works so well.

Any advice for some kind of method of restoring the damaged skin on my nose/lip area quickly, and maintaining some moisture?

My entire life, my facial regimen has consisted of washing my face in the morning with a wet washcloth, no soap, no cleanser, and applying Mary Kay moisturizer, then make-up. I have never done anything else with my face, and with the exception of this winter-related dryness, have had a problem-free and healthy complexion.

I have Psoriasis, it especially flares up in the winter in my "T" zone ... I have found The Body Shop's Grapeseed daily hydrating moisturizer cream to work the best.

I've tried everything ... Aloe worked okay, but halfway through the day I'd be all dry again ... Vitamin E did the same thing.

Oh, and a little bit of this stuff goes a LONG way.

Try some vitamin E oil.

Either buy a bottle of it or just stick a pin in a vitamin e oil capsule and rub it right on the skin. It only takes a little tiny bit, rubbed in well.

Ditto this. Just don't do it for more than a week running or you'll start seeing zits.

  • 2 weeks later...

Vitamin E is good, so's grapeseed oil. Also shea butter... pure raw shea butter, not some of these "shea butter lotions" that have like 5% shea. The nice thing about all of these is a little goes a long long way. My last shea butter purchase was a pound which has lasted close to 2 years.

Be careful using baby oil on your face... mineral oil is a notorious pore clogger. Some people have no trouble with it but for others it can cause helly problems w/zits & irritation.
