Is City Club Happening On Friday's?

I used to prowl around the Detroit club scene back in the mid 90's and haven't been back since 98. We happen to be driving through next weekend, staying downtown - and I thought it might be fun to show my girl some of the old haunts.

City club used to be one of my favorites, but as I recall, it really depended what night you were there. IF not CC on Fridays any recomendations?

My husband and I are going to switch to Fridays starting this week.

Been going on Saturday for years. But lately, the music seems slanted toward very repetitive techno, which we neither like nor like to dance to.

Been holding out because we've enjoyed socilizing with DGN'ers on Saturdays. But not a lot of people seem to be showing up there these days, so time to make the switch.

The debate over whether Friday is better than Saturday has raged on for years. We've been there on a few Fridays when it's been obnoxious. As far as the music goes, that's yet to be seen. Supposedly there are new DJ's playing "better" music there on Fridays now. We'll see.

I haven't been to CC recently (a little over a year) but I know that the music used to suck ass on Fridays. I don't know who they've got DJing on Fridays now but you could check it out. It's not going to be dead or anything but it's worth going either way.

Thanks for your input!! I gues it would have helped if I would have mentioned what we're into! We're into industrial rock and electronic music. i.e frontline assembly, VNV nation, ministry, tagc, wumpscut,, pigface, kevorkian deathcycle etc. I know, we're old skool....

I guess we'll likely go Friday regardless, as we're staying downtown and it will be close.

In my honest opinion I don't go anymore on Fridays because its always dead,and we never run into many people we know,never used to be like this awhile back,I myself would rather go Saturday.

Ya I don't think I'm gonna go back on a friday, it was 130 when Ben, Sommer, and I left and there was maybee 50 people there total.......I left early and sober......not a good combo. We hung out all night and talked at their place and it was alot more fun. But it's always good to just hang with people you can call friends.....

Yeah... I almost fell asleep on the couch cause it was so dead. Just sat there and watched tv. I could watch tv at home! The dance floor was so dead that I really didn't feel like dancing.

Anyways CC on Fridays is bad. My bouncer friend crystal told me on Saturday that they sent home half of the bouncer staff this last Friday and attendance was only at 120 people. You should try club 2550 in detroit its another goth bar. I go to swinger events on Fridays at Kellys on the Eastside or Wooly Bullies. So no CC for me on Fridays.

What's the music like on Fridays?

Do they post playlists on DIAG anymore? I don't have a big problem with low attendance, but if what I hear about them playing "lots of industrial" is true, I guess we'll have to suck it up and deal with the techno they play on Saturday. Can't stand either, but can dance more to techno.

wow - lots of good info - thanks everyone. Now I'm on the fence... It's close to where we're staying, but would hate to see a ghost town. After a long day of driving, maybe we'll just chill at the hotel. (lame)

Swinger parties at woolie bullies? hmmmm, that just sounds odd... I wonder if thats the same place my band used to play at... hmmmm.... Used to be a place called the warehouse by the omni - is that still around?
