torn asunder
internally debating whether i want to ride 3+hrs, one way, for this trip this weekend, when i know that, the entire weekend is going to consist of either sitting around and having to talk with family for extended periods, or hauling rocks & cleaning up property. i did promise to help him work on the place, but i was hoping it might just be us guys, so i didn't have to talk much, and could relax. i don't mind physical hard work in the least, but for me, socializing is much harder and more draining. i'm torn between wanting to honour my commitment to help out, and dreading the forced extended interaction with people i can only handle in small doses, with no hope for escape. this sucks. either way, i'm going to feel like shit about this weekend. who wants to come to k'zoo & hang out!? (and give me a reason/excuse to have to stay here!!)
synthier
i'm torn between wanting to honour my commitment to help out, and dreading the forced extended interaction with people i can only handle in small doses, with no hope for escape. ha! while i can only empathize, i'm big on honoring what you'd said you'd do, so i would find myself out there... trying to enjoy the free workout... trying to avoid the social aspect. if the weather is nice, the drive might not be too bad, either. now, if it was a family-social event, i'd be looking for excuses, pronto... but the "helping out" bit carries more responsibility with it, so that's what i would get caught on. you, however, may choose your own values. i'd just look for a balance of being good to others & good to yourself. so perhaps you could say you only have X amount of free time right now, so you'd like to help with hauling rocks while you can, and oh-so-sorry, but you'll have to catch up later. is it an overnight thing? if so, my ass would appear one day only. if i feel a need to do something like this, i "make an appearance," honor what i said i'd do, and get the eff out of there. if it's impractical to do that with the long drive or pushy family members, oh damn, something came up and you're stuck in kzoo. (like a friend's horse is being shipped in earlier than anticipated, and you needed to be there to sign the delivery form cuz she's out of town... that's so odd, no one can just make that up ) this sucks. either way, i'm going to feel like shit about this weekend. do what you can without making yourself terribly uncomfortable, and let go of the rest of the bs. and quit slamming your head against the wall. who wants to come to k'zoo & hang out!? (and give me a reason/excuse to have to stay here!!) no comment.
