"Maggie" (my vintage Maytag wringer washer) and I are doing laundry. :) Time to wring, more water, add more soap, and the next load of darks..

Oh, and eating Donckels Cocoa-Dusted Dark Chocolate Truffles. These things are just wrong. This pound of chocolate will probably be gone by tomorrow.

I just realized crumpet rhymes with trumpet.

Have no idea where I am going with this...tis too early to think anyway.

But If I DO think about it makes me hungry. Rolls. Roll call...coming from trumpets like the Reveille used at sunrise by army's.

And that would lead us to breakfast and CRUMPETS

mmmm yum. Crumpets.

Wondering how many animals have died due to the irregular weather. Could populations be falling drastically? I wonder if there were any ice fishermen who froze to death on their way out from the lake. I wonder how many living creatures will die before we realize this is the beginning of the apocalypse and take appropriate measures to ensure the most painless destruction possible.

Still doing laundry the old-timey way:

Fill washtub from sink by hand with a big pot. Put in soap. Plug in to start agitator. Pull out plunger to release agitator. Add load of clothes. Wait. Push in plunger to stop agitator. Wring clothes. Pull sump lever to drain basin. Unplug machine. Refill basin with rinse water. Add fabric softener. Plug in to start agitator. Pull out plunger to release agitator. Add wrung clothes. Wait. Push in plunger to stop agitator. Wring clothes. Pull sump lever to drain basin. Unplug machine. Dry clothes in modern gas dryer (I can't have a clothesline in my neighbourhood, and it's too cold for that, anyway!) This entire process takes HOURS, and requires great patience.

..I'm now preparing the third load (whites-- never do your whites first, as residual bleach can ruin your darks!).

Domesticity is a martial art-- consisting of discipline, order of procedure, reflex, and execution. I am so proud to be thoroughly modern, yet skilled with the lost arts of homemaking. Women who manage to walk between the two worlds (modernity and traditionality) are very quaint. We seem to have a stockpile of them here on DGN! Perhaps this is because people of the goth persuasion tend to embrace tradition.

Next, comes folding clothes and ironing-- which I also LOVE to do. :)
