BrassFusion
I hate being Cold but i so missed snow on christmas. I miss sledding with my kids and making snow men. If the temp could be that nice mild temp when snow falls and it just does not seem to cold to be out, i'd like it. The truly bitter cold, where it feels like your skin is burning freezing off is what i hate it and it can stay away. I guess it would be an old wise tale but my grandma used to say we need the bitter cold to help control the population of pests, buggies, and animals. So i have always accepted the bitter cold as a way to help nature keep control over herself. So the lack of, does worry me, are we going to be over populated with mosquitios, grubs, the bugs that eat trees etc... and is this then going to lead to more chemicals being used to help control those pests, thus buggering up our water supply even more...... It just seems more natural the other way. I also personally feel the lack of snow, simply the lack of snow is not good for us, we live with this drab season where everything is ugly and dead, the snow provides a blanket of sparkling covering for the drab world to brighten it up. I think the lack of snow could possibly lead to more depression in some way. I know i just feel happier when the snow covers the dirty dark landscape and the sun sparkles off it like fields of diamonds! You don't drive much, do you? Aralis
I really dislike being cold and trying to drive in the snow but I really did miss it this year. I wanted snow for xmas . Still not having any snow is kinda creeping me out. I am actually kinda wanting to see some now so it actually feels like winter. I keep wondering when we will get some if any. Vampyro
yeah, they did bring up some logical points. True it could be el nino, but i always remember there being that thing up here called the "january thaw" but there was always a bit of snow before then too, now there's nothing, half the time i don't even need a coat out. But the basic ghist of that movie left me laughing in a sick sadistic sort of way... If it's all true in this movie, An Inconvenient "Trut" (lmao, inside joke) Then were all fucked and going to have our skin bubble off our flesh in a slow painful death one day, cuz one thing i've learned, if you depend on humanity to save it's self... you're a damn fool, and what the movie wanted to point out is just that, it is up to humanity to save it's self... so i laughed cuz i really don't like most humans anyway... But I've noticed that there's always been these major science scares lately about all hell breaking loose, and soon. Even most religeons talk about all hell breaking loose, and soon. Call it an omen, or a very blunt hint.. but it seems that the ONE thing sciences and religeons agree on is... all hell is going to break loose, and soon. But to throw in another topic along with these, there's also the magnetic field wich in theory, is generated in the core of the earth wich is exactly like one big massive nuclear power plant. This theory has some pretty good clues to back it up too. Another thing they've noticed is every so often, the magnetic poles swap spots, so north becomes south, and south becomes north. What they've said is that the next polar shift is long overdue, but is fixing to happen soon. With that said, if prooven or does come to actually happen, that means that will screw our magentic field up royally for a while, our biggest defence against outter space radiation, solar rays, ect ect. With that gone, and no way to stop it from happening, it really does make our pollution prevention seem rather... pointless. However, I do agree that we do need to do everything we can to take care of the planet, cuz whether it's pointless or not, polluting sure aint going to help anything in the run of time. Another theory I've seen was the opposite of getting blasted by radiation hotter than one of Lucifer's farts, that we'd actually get slammed with an ice age. I really didn't quite understand how they explained that one. My concern is, even if the impossible does happen, and humanity does pull a miracle out of our own ass and stop our caused global warming... will it still make any difference if the poles start switching? n0Mad
No, the Ozone layer filters out most of the Ultra Violet Light... the Magnetosphere deflects most solor radiation and particles carried by solar winds. Isn't the Magnetosphere what Eric Lensherr wanted to name his co-invention but Charles Xavier insisted on Cerebro?
BrassFusion
And for the record: 1) I love the snow 2) I drive in the snow 3) Aside from "other people", I love driving in the snow. It's like drifting at much lower rpms/speed and MUCH better for your tires! It's not the driving that pisses me off, it's the idiots who don't know how to. And the scraping shit off my car in the buttfreezing cold before I can go anywhere.
Vampyro
I agree, there's alot of idiots out there who over react to incliment weather HOWEVER... it could be worse, you could be in one of those half way down to the south states like north carolina, tennesee, misouri ect, where it seldom snows, and if you just get some small flurries that don't even stick to the ground, everyone freaks and it's pure anarchy behind the wheel. I remember being stationed in NC a few years back and we got a small bit of snow, and the roads were literally filled with accidents left and right (not exagerating) then the next day, they had an inch of snow on the ground... that only lasted a couple hours... the entire state practically shut down. AstralCrux
It actually seems to be helping tourism in MI for the warmer weather. Go figure! I always thought snow was pretty and I like skiing and fun winter stuff. But, the corporate travellers have been frequenting hotels in Michigan at a higher rate this year, this information is limited to Livonia and surrounding areas only though. Still, anything to help the economy around here.
