I'm Such A Lazy Cook

Recommended Posts

I hate setting timers. Stuff is never done when it's supposed to be. I don't get up to check on baked things until the kitchen starts smelling good. When I think it might be getting done and I smell it cooking I get up and check, then I set the timer for however long it looks like it will take.

I'm making a red velvet cake, which I really don't need, but I'm really really in the mood for.

i love setting timers. especially the ones that are clockwork ringing types, especially when theres a shelf full of them in a dept store, wind them all up quickly or as many as you can allowing ime to stand back and watch the entertainment comence.

I made a spice cake with buttercream frosting today.

How YOU doin? :wink

I'm a lazy cook and even lazier food shopper. One of these days I'm going to hunker down and eat real meals with real veggies and real ingredients and spend time making proper meals... and enjoy it. That time is not now...

We really should have another DGN picnic sometime. The food and the company was good! We have some great cooks here. This summer sometime?

HeadWreck - sounds like there's a story behind that post.

Cedar ball incident???

I'm doing good ... and have PLENTY of cake left. I didn't even touch it until today.

I've always believed I can't cook.

Phee tells me otherwise.

... Maybe it's because he's used to eating sand ... so he just THINKS my food tastes decent ...

I can BAKE, I've never disputed that.

I made tom kha gai yesterday & it turned out really yummy... Meijer was out of enoki mushrooms so I used oyster 'shrooms, wasn't sure if it would work but if anything they intensified the flavor. I got a really creamy can of coconut milk so that may have had something to do with it, too.

to be perfectly honest I don't do a lot of cooking at this point in my life... but I never understand why people act like it's so hard to cook decent food. The beauty of cooking is it can be as simple or as complicated as you want, and some of the simplest stuff is really impressive... doesn't get much easier than something like salmon & grits but it's delicious, filling, cheap & even "healthy".

good food is right up there with good sex for me... mmmmm

    • I am currently floored.   FedEx did a massive 6 box delivery to the wrong address.  I had an autoship order scheduled to arrive before this past weekend.  Nothing showed up.  I contacted the order site and they had a link for the order...a photo of all my boxes thrown in the snow and up the sidewalk of a residence that was not mine.   You would think that at some point, the driver would have looked at the delivery address after they kept throwing box upon box at this location with no shelter from the elements.  They didn't even knock on the door to inform the residents that massive 65+ pound boxes were left all over their walkway.  Nope.  Just dumped them, took a photo as they were walking away and left.   I wonder what the person who found all of those misdelivered boxes must have been thinking when they saw them.  Maybe they kept everything to use, distribute or sell.  No idea.  No claim was filed on that end as of yet.   Fortunately for me, one of the sites that I ordered from, replaced everything at no extra cost.   Unfortunately, now I'm concerned for the other items yet to be delivered.   Needless to say, I'll be watching my notifications like a hawk.
