BrassFusion
when it got around 2, some places went 1.99 just to be all, "in your face, other gas stations!!!" i guess the slump overall is partly due to the mild winter we're having. it's cool, though, no complaints here. Msterbeau
Dammit. Why didn't it go down BEFORE the holidays? I've been back and forth to Detroit every weekend for a month. That would have saved me a decent chunk of change.
Shade Everdark
I have to admit, I'm a little torn by this trend. Like most of you, I feel relieved when the price of gas falls: it eases the financial pressure just a little bit (hey, I have a small tank, it's a difference of $2, $3, usually). And I know that there are people out there for whom that price drop is much more significant with regard to percentages of their household income. Those lower prices can only be good for them. At least in the short-term. On the other hand, I can't help thinking that if the prices come down, and stay down (especially if it goes under $2/gallon and stays there), what will happen to what little pressure there currently is to fund alternative fuels research, or even vehicles with better overall mileage ratings? I like seeing those lower prices as much as anyone, but even more I'd like to see the day when we don't need petroleum for anything but our plastics. Just a little something to think about. Vampyro
i do agree we need an alternate source of energy for a vehicle to operate however, such change right now would meet with alot of resistance to adapt by people. Not alot of people are ready to just "change" like that. I for one couldn't afford a new vehicle if mine were unable to take a new fuel source. I would encourage the changes, but it would take a long time to completely roll over to a drastic change. Ethonol is a start but... in my current state, it makes it alot more affordable and i actually might have enough to make it to work and back until the next payday after this one and pay bills! And as for why they happened over the hollidays is they KNOW people are going to travel, so they are going to make things a bit pricey, just taking advantage of a high demand on a product that has more inelastic sales than flexible sales. Bad for us... but good for them.
