It's called subtitles, sweetie. (I'm assuming you can read ;))

Dude, seriously, it fucked me up. And it takes a lot to rattle me!

It disturbed me, and not in a good way. I can't say it's not a good movie, because it is, certainly well made and well acted, but...I don't like the feeling it left me with.

Woah, I'm kinda scared now. (dont' tell anyone I said that! :secret: )

Yeah, I am not easily scared by movies, and I don't mind creepy... I liked Se7en, Saw, Silence of the Lambs (and other creepy movies that start with "S" haha) but this got under my skin in a way those didn't. Maybe part of it was I wasn't expecting it to be as gorey as it was. In any case, it gave me nightmares, and I'm not eager to watch it again.

Edited to say: I don't mean to imply that it's *more* gorey than those other movies I mention, ymmv, I recognize I am in the minority opinion but I just wasn't as impressed as I expected to be. I read a review that said it's too simplistic for adults, and too violent for children. I have to agree with that- the good characters are GOOD and the evil characters are EVIL and that is that. I like more complex characters. And less nightmare-inducing ones.

We are going tommrow, though now I am not so sure I want to see it. I have enough nightmare without it, however the sweeten wants to go, and what the sweeten wants the sweeten gets lol

I saw this tonight. I have to say - I LOVED it! Very deep, multi levels of meaning, beautiful cinematography, super creepy fantasy stuff, and extreme, in your face realism about the gorey stuff. It was a very edgy film that left me feeling extremely disturbed while also somewhat inspired. I'm going to be brain crunching it for awhile. Go see it!

the eternal and I saw it - such a good movie! we were sitting in the theater after it was done, taking the whole thing in, processing it...

Movies almost never have an effect on me, but this one did. I had strange dreams, and I woke up this morning thinking about the film.

Wow...just...wow...

Okay, I'm still scarred by this film, but I'm listening to a really, really good interview with Guillermo del Toro, the writer/director/producer, on "Fresh Air" on NPR. It's very long but so interesting. He talks about not only the film but also his upbringing in Mexico and the experiences that have influenced him as a filmmaker (and his upcoming Hellboy sequel a little bit). He's a great storyteller and it's a very engrossing listen. Plus his voice is very nice. :D

The article, which is just about the film, is here, and the audio-interview with del Toro is linked down the page a little, on the left.

Dang and the description in Real D had me wanting to see it, but I was terrified after watching Hostle- so this one is gonna be another no for me.

Hehe, yeah, I found Hostel to be incredibly disturbing as well, but this movie was not disturbing in the same way. For me, it was more disturbing in a heartstring-ripping way, than in a heart attack inducing kind of way.

It was gorgeous, in addition to being full of gore. But I thought the gore was tasteful, and truthful. I really enjoyed the parallels between the fantasy and reality aspects.

All told, it was pretty goddamn magnificent.

And not just because it was the first fun thing I've gone out of the house for since moving.

    • I am currently floored.   FedEx did a massive 6 box delivery to the wrong address.  I had an autoship order scheduled to arrive before this past weekend.  Nothing showed up.  I contacted the order site and they had a link for the order...a photo of all my boxes thrown in the snow and up the sidewalk of a residence that was not mine.   You would think that at some point, the driver would have looked at the delivery address after they kept throwing box upon box at this location with no shelter from the elements.  They didn't even knock on the door to inform the residents that massive 65+ pound boxes were left all over their walkway.  Nope.  Just dumped them, took a photo as they were walking away and left.   I wonder what the person who found all of those misdelivered boxes must have been thinking when they saw them.  Maybe they kept everything to use, distribute or sell.  No idea.  No claim was filed on that end as of yet.   Fortunately for me, one of the sites that I ordered from, replaced everything at no extra cost.   Unfortunately, now I'm concerned for the other items yet to be delivered.   Needless to say, I'll be watching my notifications like a hawk.
