S.c.a.

The S.C.A. is a group of people who love the medieval times and get together to fight and feast together.

It would be nice to start a DGN combat team.

Yea for real.

Well....The swords are wooden, padded and weighted to a sword but would break a bone if not warring armor. Warring armor is a requirement BTW but you could barrow frome someone who has an extra suite. Until you get you're own.

Their is two classifications, Heavy and Rapier. Heavy is like Broadswords and Claymores, Rapier is like fencing. Both are fun.

I haven’t been into it since I left the military in Va but am looking to rejoin in MI.

I've been a rather (drunken) active member of SCA for over 10 years. It's a wonderful time! There is a group for Metro Detroit as well as Ann Arbor. The A2 group seems to be a bit more active and larger though. I've recently begun playing with them. Let me know and I can get you some contacts.

I’m learning chain mail myself, The kanuck, hopefully I can go on a weekly basis. I feel you’re pain.

Yea, thanks Nienna. I live in Clinton twp, and I don’t know what group would be closer.

I’m now registered for Rapier but want to get into heavy weapons also.

Well Killer Bunnie , to bad we don’t live any ware near each other or we could carpool. Well we should make some chain mail for the babies.

I'd be up for trying it, and enjoy making my own chainmail. I still plan on showing you soon (when I find all my tools).

Careful about mentioning chainmail. You might find a few people wanting some made. I've been thinking of joining SCA. I already dress up for the Michigan Renaissance Festival.

I don't mind if they do, I know if I can't do something (due to time or funds) I can at least show someone how to do it their self. I've been asked by a small group, but they decided to try it on their own after showing them it was easy, I just didn't have time to make that many pieces back then.
