Snow-related Accidents Anyone?

Recommended Posts

Anyone experiencing weather-related issues?

Jon called. He had a service call down in Ohio, and on his way back, someone in a Malibu lost control in front of him. He went left to try to avoid her, but ended up catching ice, hit the median wall, and the rest I'm confused about, but he ended up sitting in the median.

The front end of his work van is totaled. His shin was a bit scraped up (not sure how that happened) and his glasses flew off. But otherwise, he's o.k. Someone from the shop is going down there to take care of having the van towed and bring Jon back.

I've had to drive down to Toledo twice in snowy weather over the past season, and it is CRAZY down that way where driving is concerned. It truly makes me nervous. He drives down there all the time in all sorts of weather, and he sees tons of accidents every time.

It sucks that he got a $95 ticket for "failure to control." Wonder how many points that'll be. Fucking ridiculous. He could fight it but I know he won't want to go to the trouble. Sigh.

I have a ticket for the cop: Failure to use brain.

Avoiding an accident of someone else's making is not always easy, especially in slippery conditions. More especially with traffic around. I'd not only fight the ticket, but I'd ask the judge about getting the cops head examined. Asshole.

the kid inside me LOVES snow

the me that cant cope with anything above room temperature likesw to cold

the driver in me hates other moron drivers in the dry, and absolutely hates the selfishness of other drivers and just plain stupidity.

the amount of people who sat there and slouched when the car on front got stuck and didnt help was beyond belief.

and in weather like this has made me want to buy a land rover defender or land rover forward control again.

Actually, the cop was very cool. Jon had to sit in his car while waiting for someone from the shop to come get him. Basically the cop said they're required by Ohio to give that ticket. And that the cop would "work with Jon" and told him flat out to go to the hearing and they'll dismiss it. He did write on the ticket that conditions were snowy, icy, and visibility was impaired.

Just an inconvenience at this point. But it'll be cleared.

Back to bed! Snif.

Glad Jon is okay. Sucks about the ticket.

I had to be downtown in Detroit at 9 am this morning. We left at about 7 am ... we got there around 9:30. I drove in about 6-8 inches of snow all the way there ... Saw only a couple minour accidents and LOTS of people stuck. I was impressed on how well my little car plowed right through the snow. I slipped and slid, but not too much. I got my last Mazda in April ... so I wasn't quite sure how they handled the snow ... today was the test ... and I gotta say, the Toyo Proxies and the ability to throw my car in 1st gear with ease and have it stay there until I told it otherwise was well worth it.

Nope, didn't have any real problems. Took 275 past 94 this time because I didn't want to be involved in any accident seeing as how so many people wait til the last minute to jump in front of another car causing everyone else to slam on their brakes. It never fails too. So I took the Eureka Rd exit. Ended up driving along the snow bank when some cars decided to follow the trail that went from their lane into mine. I was surprised that my truck handled so well because I had no weight in the back and the truck never lost control. Fuck man, over half the twits in this area cannot drive. Needs to be more of a bus system near Canton.

i drove in the mess for two hours on Tuesday-mostly on telegraph and 75 and then Wednesday morning on Telegraph and Orchard Lake Road. And i have to say it was god-awful. I went really slow in my little escort and everyone's big pick up trucks and SUVs were barreling down on me. So, besides one totaled truck, I'm glad to hear that everyone is OK and noone got in any major accidents (it seems). I say we collectively move to the bahamas and become gothic beach combers with spf 50 sun block. Snow Sucks. This economy sucks. I want to move! Who's with me?
