true... but i'm not a liar. i figure if i faked orgasms, it'd be giving a guy positive reinforcement for shit he didn't do, and if i had an orgasm and said i DIDN'T, it'd be missing an opportunity for that same positive reinforcement.

It's only stupid if prosthetics that would improve his level of functioning don't actually exist. Especially given that his knees will almost certainly deteriorate further as he ages. And I'm pretty sure that level of technology either already exists, or is very close to becoming a reality.

Maybe I'm just ignorant of the advances in prosthetic technology... but real legs are good for things other than just running. As far as I'm aware, no prosthetics are yet sensitive to touch, heat, cold, etc. I guess I think it's hard to improve on the product of millions of years of evolution. Maybe if they could grow replacement legs from his own DNA... I have a feeling they'll be able to do that sort of thing someday, in addition to bionic enhancements.
