Marblez
Someone brought up the castle looking building in Detroit as a good location for a new club. I did some checking and found the following story about it. If you are like me and always admired that building, you might find it interesting. http://www.nationaltrust.org/Magazine/arch...2006/101006.htm The city of Detroit is looking for someone to buy and renovate a National Register-listed building that has been vacant for more than three decades. The Grand Army of the Republic building, which the city built in 1899 and last used as a recreation center in 1973, is for sale for a minimum price of $220,500. The city estimates that it will cost $1 million to renovate the Richardsonian Romanesque four-story building....
Brenda Starrr
I remember admiring that building. If I had the cash, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Marblez
I actualy think the owners of "Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle" should look into buying it, that would be fitting. Then the upper floors could be a dance club... yeah.
pomba gira
"Richardsonian Romanesque"... always wondered what that architectural style is called. Couldn't remember the name of the building itself to save my life... be interesting to look up the history of the place. Wonder if they got any proposals, said they were due in Nov. 06. ManicQueen
My mom, step-dad, brother and I are have been doing some research into starting our own business. This might be something to look into. That or I might just have to take out a massive loan and move it.
Reaper
Mike, the owner of CC, tried buying it before but Mike Ilitch overbid him on it. It was going to be torn down or changed into a business building, but the historical society wouldn't have any of it. And I am SURE they wouldn't let it become the next City Club as you can see how shitty the current one is. People have no respect for the condition of the club and therefore would not care about the next one. And do you think Mike would either? Nope, as long as it made him money, he could care less about the condition of it down the road.
n0Mad
There was an article about it in the paper a few weeks ago. Sadly I didn't buy the paper and I can't remember what it said. I think they're starting rennovations and it will be city offices or something boring like that.
