Anyone else use this stuff? I just got it in the mail the other day.. Tried everything else to clear up my skin and nothing has worked. Just wondering about other peoples' success with ProActiv.. If you have used it, how long did it take to make a noticeable difference?

I used proactiv religiously for about a year, and while it did make a difference, it wasn't any kind of miracle system. I've since gotten exactly the same results - soft skin, minimal blemishes - with a regiment of an exfoliating cleanser, toner, and moisturizer twice a day. I use a combination of oil of olay and l'oreal products.

My mother has been using proactiv for about six or seven months now, and she's doing really well with it, I suppose. Her problem wasn't ever really acne though, just ruddy norwegian skin. I think it just gave her a good system of things to use together, since she never used anything other than bar soap when I was younger. One of the positive things about proactiv is that it teaches you good cleansing habits, which I know wouldn't make sense to me had I not worked with estheticians.

Anyway, good luck, and give it time! I'd give it about four weeks before you really start to notice any kind of difference, unless you've been taking pictures every day to see the transition.

Part of the reason that we get oily is because our skin is dehydrated. This makes our oil glands overcompensate by producing extra oil, hence the breakouts. Yes, you want to use something to get rid of the acne, but you also want to use a moisturizer designed for your skin type. I'm not kidding when I say this this makes sense. Moisture does not equal grease. Your body only thinks that it does.

Ha, this just came up in conversation with my mom. (she's a dermatologist) She's annoyed at the people who market it just because she didn't think of it first. Basically, they just took 3 of the common products already on the market and combined them into one product. I guess you can all the other stuff seperately over the counter already anyway.

Anyway it's supposed to be pretty good. About as good as you can get non-prescription.

And yep, I second Brenda's above statement.
