I'd love to be able to buy what I want in stores, and I definitely prefer it, but online gets my vote simply because I can get whatever I want. It might take a while though, I've been waiting 3 months for my order from x-tra-x to arrive!

I like shopping online, because the *really* good places give you an idea of how stuff fits, fabric type, thick/thinness of said fabric, and what you measurements need to be to not pop out of it. Or show each size on the different body-types. Not just size -500. I just despise going to a crowded store and trying crap on. Pants are the only thing I'll really go buy in store. Every friggin' brand has its own weird fitting sizes now so its pretty much impossible to know unless you check it out youself.....

Definitely online. Some days everything I'm wearing from the skin out was purchased online. I hate stumbling around stores, hunting through racks for the one size that's never there, trying to get an idea how something looks in a cramped fitting room... the only advantage of brick & mortar shopping is getting a feel for the sizing of unfamiliar clothing lines/brands. I will often hit the stores to get a better idea of fit when I'm considering an online purchase... did that with Doc Martens for example, it was actually suggested by the seller I bought my last few pairs from.

Only thing that's really hard to buy online sight-unseen is makeup, because of the difficulty of getting accurate color repro. That can be a real pain with lines like Iman which is just about impossible to find in this area... the darker lip colors I like tend to look identical on most monitors but vary wildly in reality.
