I just started working on the Vampire Chronicles by Ann Rice. Yes, you read the right, I'm way behind.

I have really bad ADD when it comes to books. I'll start them, then put them down and not pick them up again for weeks, or sometimes even months. I also have a bad habit of leaving books on planes, on trains, and in other people's houses or cars. I have a long list of books that I read the first half of, then lost. It gets expensive.

Looked it up, looks intresting.

You are welcome to to borrow my copy if you ever want to. Krakauer also wrote Into Thin Air, which is an amazing account of the '96 Everest disaster (he was there while it happened doing a story for Outside). Lesser known, but much more controversial is Under the Banner of Heaven. The book examines extremes fundamentalist offshoots of Mormonism. Havn't read it yet, but it's on my list.

Happyslapped by a Jellyfish.... please elaborate (Just finished God Dillusion myself)

It's the diary of Karl Pilkington, oft harangued sidekick of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant on their podcast. It's absolutely amazing. He's either certifiably insane, or the stupidest man alive, but it's a great read. I recommend downloading the podcasts before reading it though.

Somehow i missed this the first time around. Belive me your not alone. I'd guess 95% of DGNers havent read the first book even. (Which is fairly self contained and I'd put it on a short list of required (fiction) reading. )

The Mole People, for the 100th time, by Jennifer Toth.

It's nonfiction, about people who live underneath NYC (homeless), the drama of their lives and the communities they form and then rip apart. I was homeless for 4 years as a young adult so it's a topic close to my heart. highly recommend.

The Mole People~never met anyone else whose read this one : ) I loved it too!! It was very moving, and amazing to read about an entire group of people living underground.

Aloft, The God Delusion, and Happyslapped by a Jellyfish.

Reading The God Delusion myself at the moment. Good to see so many people reading this. Fair warning, I may PM you to discuss! :->

I also really like biographies. The last book I read was Street Zen: The Life and Work of Issan Dorsey It's about a man (now deceased) who boozed, drugged, and sexed it up early on in life only to be led to a place of peace and love through buddhism, and through his creation of a hospice for people living with AIDS. It's a great example of how one person really can make a difference.

Just finished Soul Music by Terry Pratchett. Next read will either be a Christopher Moore book (have several on loan from a friend) or For a Few Days More by Mitch Album, which was a gift from a friend.
