Shade Everdark
I've been reading Bullfinch's Mythology, and while most of the Greek myths were familiar to me, in at least a back-of-the-mind sort of way, I'm finding the stories of Charlemaigne quite enthralling. Paper Hearts
I'm reading a book called 'Porno' (insert cheap ones in this gash I've left for you) by Irvine Welsh and also 'To The Lighthouse', Virgina Woolf. Porno was a gift from a freind, it's the sequel to Trainspotting-if you haven't read Trainspotting then maybe you've seen the movie (Danny Boyle, GB, 1996)...To The Lighthouse is of course the famous 20th century masterpiece. It's a very sobering book, sort of a survey of the emotional density that so seperates us all; the charachters and story seem only a means to that end. -Good reads. Goth Brooks
Lord Jim by Joseph Conrad "This immortal novel of the sea is the story of a British sailor haunted by a single youthful act of cowardly betrayal. To the white men in Bombay, Calcutta and Rangoon, Jim is a man of mystery. To the primitive natives deep in the Malayan jungle, he is a god, gifted with supernatural powers. To the beautiful half-caste girl who flees to his hut for protection, he is a lord to be feared and loved." "Lord Jim - Conrad's classic portrait of a man's guilt, his search for forgiveness, and his final, tragic redemption - is a work of enduring value, one of the world's great masterpieces." I just started it, bought it for a penny at the library. I absolutely love sea-story novels. Master and Commander, Lord Ramage, Horatio Hornblower.. anything along those lines.
