and um.. breaking the law a little bit, is still breaking the law.

True...tell that to my friends who have gigs of data stolen using peer-sharing programs. :) This issue just doesn't seem like a huge deal to me. However, considering financing laws mentioned earlier, it's a wake-up call for the legal system to figure out how they are going to deal with "consumer level" "consumable" content in the context of those laws.

I'm pretty sure this would fall into the conspiracy/corruption catagory if Obama's campaign backed it. No proof they did though. Also, if they were involved.. it breaks a few laws in the campaign finaince catagory.

If Obama's "campaign," as in, Obama himself, had knowledge of and supported the creation of the viral, they covered their tracks by having the guy fired anyway. It's all about plausible deniability. I feel it's more likely than not that Obama himself had no knowledge of it until it was created. It would've compromised him too much to let him know beforehand.

Conspiracy theorist!

I said "if!" I really really doubt Obama personally had anything to do with it. As for it being a conspiracy, I'm sure someone "conspired" with the guy who actually did it, a la: "Hey, what are you making? Oh-em-gee, that's funny! Imma help! *gigglefart!* Let's make it look like the chick's wearing an iPod!"

If this same viral was a shoddily drawn flash movie that some anonymous person uploaded to Newgrounds, no one would care... I guess it's just because of how GOOD it looks it got people concerned about who was behind it, even though it could easily have been just a hobbyist. What a shame that this is news.

I used conspiracy in the legal sense... anytime two or more people talk about something before they do it... it's a conspiracy. You really don't want any charge to have a conspiracy charge along with it. It's really bad.

and yeah... most of whats on the news should not be. Distractions.. smoke and mirrors... don't look behind that curtain.. there is no place like home *click click*
