Quick Trip To Philadelphia And Maybe Nyc - Advice, Tips?

I'm taking a quick trip over to Philly and may take a drive over to NYC just for a day trip. I've never been to the city so am looking for a bit of avice and pointers. I want to stop by the WTC tribute (the one that is staffed by people who were there) http://www.tributewtc.org/ and want to see the Statue of Liberty. I doubt I'll take the ferry over because my time is going to be very limited and I hear it is really time consuming to wait in line for that, etc.

How expensive is parking, and are the parking garages generally full during the day on a week day? I usually use a parking garage when I visit Chicago and use public transport and cabs to get around.

How about goth clubs? I'd be there on a Friday evening. The international goth club list doesn't list ANYTHING except clubs open third saturday, third friday of whatever. Good grief. Detroit and Philly seem to be the only places that have a club night every weekend night.

Saturday night I'll be back in Philly and want to check out Shadowlands.

Parking in NYC can be expensive, and yes garages are often full. Check out http://nycgarages.com/ for locations and rates. Driving in NYC in general can be a nightmare, especially if you don't know exactly where you're going. If I were you I'd consider leaving the car in Philly and taking a train.

It's been about 6 years since I lived there, so I don't know about clubs...but I do recall there weren't as many options as you'd expect in a major city. Check out http://nycgoth.com/; a few events are listed there, but I don't know how up to date they are. You can join the chatroom there and ask.

Have a blast!

Thank you for the info! I'm not the one driving but I did wonder if the train would be a better option. I bet it would be much less time-consuming, especially since I don't know my way around at all.

Yeah, about the clubs, I'm so surprised at how few there seem to be. I'll check out the chatroom.

I'm leaving for the airport at 2 a.m. today and can not WAIT. Yay!

i don't have much advice or info other than to agree on driving in ny can be a nightmare. it is crazy busy and people just sort of drive however they want it seems. i didn't personally have to drive and the person i was with driving did it like a natural (though they had never been in ny before) so i suggest if you DO drive there park else where and take a taxi or walk whenever possible!
