Soulrev
I'm chillin' at the PX in Fort Leonard Wood right now using an internet access terminal. I'm doing great. I'm finished with basic, in week two of AIT, and I'll be out of this damn place by May 25th. I've had a lot of fun in basic and AIT so far. My drill sergeants in basic were cool as hell and taught me a lot. I've become much more disciplined, physically and mentally tough. I've done so much PT and watched my body transform over the past 12 weeks, it's amazing. I never thought I could run 2 miles in 15 minutes or do so many damn pushups and situps. But I can now! Anyway, I'm 100% positive I made the right decision and I'm glad I did it. I'm on pass for the day so I can't stop by all the time, but I'll try to stop by every weekend and check in with you guys. I'll definitely be coming to CC when I get home. I can't wait to get trashed and dance! Well, gotta go, be back later!
Brenda Starrr
BRIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!! I'm so glad to see that you're doing well. And make sure you let me know when you get back. I'll be buying you a drink!
Soulrev
Well I have a few more minutes. I'm missing home a lot but I figure I'm better off where I am at than being at home. I don't miss sitting around the house all day long wishing I had something better to do.. At least here I'm busy every day. I don't even know where to start. My bct Drill Sgts were cool as hell. I haven't seen them since I graduated though, they are just a couple of blocks away. I'm going to stop by and say hi one of these days. I really do like it here though. It's nice to know you don't have to worry about money or food or anything. I think when I get done with training it's going to be strange to be out in the real world again and actually be able to do what I want when I want to. Here, there's always someone around to tell you what to do and everything has to be done to that person's standards. Of course, that's just training though. The real ARMY is different. I can't wait to get assigned to my unit. I'm getting married as soon as I graduate AIT, so I'll be home for about a month when you include my hometown recruiting duty. I'll be seeing all of you soon. It's been a blast here. I don't have much more time to write now so I have to get going. I just hope you're all doing well and having fun. And yes, I AM GETTING MARRIED! w00t! heh heh. -Pvt. odims_sphere
You are having fun in Basic and AIT? It must of changed alot since I went through it. Tell me, do they still smoke you in the wood chips until someone pukes then eats it? or 25k forced road marches with full battle rattle and rucks full of rocks and you finish you find everything from your platoon bay laying on the lawn in front of the Barricks? Not really my idea of fun. However I wouldn't change anything about it. I do believe it's the best thing that could have ever happened to me. Soulrev
No I'd say that BCT and AIT are sissified now. They don't treat you half as bad as they used to because I guess some senator's or some politician's kid joined the military a couple years ago and complained to daddy about it so they made it so they're not even supposed to SWEAR at you now, much less treat you like shit. So anyway it's not that bad, and the drill sergeants have a pretty good sense of humor, especially here in AIT. I'm doing pretty good except for some recent setbacks. Our drill sergeant smoked us the other day because there's a bunch of dumbasses in our class that don't know how to be on time for formations and shit so he made us run up to the 3rd floor where we stay and come back out with something like our left boot, or go upstairs and change into your boots while wearing your pt uniform, etc. He did that for like 3 hours. So anyways after running up 3 floors worth of stairs for that long, the next day my left hip was hurting. It only hurts when I run or go up stairs. That, and I've had chest congestion since before I left for BCT. So I went to sick call, they took some exrays of my chest and my hip, and told me I have pneumonia and a stress fracture in my hip. So, now I've gotta use frickin crutches and I'm on a dead man profile for 14 days. I can't wear any of my gear, no flak jacket, helmet, nothing. So, I can't train. That means I'm going to roll-over into a different class and I'm going to be stuck here in Ft. Lost in the Woods for another 3 weeks or so. It sucks, but all I do all day now is sit in the day room in the barracks and read books. So it's a nice little break. I'm sure it'll get old pretty quick though. So I'm not going to be making it out to CC until late June now I bet. But, it's ok, I'll make it. I just need to get rid of this damn pneumonia and let my hip heal and I'll be fine. Other than that I'm doing good, I've met a ton of cool people in the ARMY so far, and a few dickheads to boot, but all in all most people here are pretty cool. I'm trying to get into the 3rd Infantry Old Guard unit, our Drill Sergeants in BCT asked if anyone with certain MOS's (mine being one of them) and who met the height requirements, were interested in signing up, and I jumped right on that. The thing is most other people in other platoons and companies didn't even get asked about it so I think I've got a pretty good chance of being selected for that. It would be pretty cool to be a part of that, the Old Guard is in Washington, DC and they do all kinds of cool shit. It's mostly all about Drill and Ceremony stuff and takes a lot of discipline but I'm all squared away as far as that goes so I think I'll enjoy it. Plus, it would be cool to be stationed in that area. Well anyways my computer time is running down and I've got some other stuff to tend to, so I'll try to check back here later this afternoon if not next weekend. Take care everyone, I miss you all! -B

Soulrev
Hey guys. Nothing much new. Still not training but I guess the First Sgt. says I'll be starting up again in a couple weeks. I figure I'll be out of this bitch by the end of June. I hope so anyways. Hope everyone is doing well. I'm just biding my time trying to stay sane hehe. It's not so bad. At least I'm getting paid. Well anyway the ARMY doctors here don't know what the fuck is wrong with my lungs. They basically asked me if I could still do PT and pass the PT test and I said yeah and they said "Well, we'll just get you back to training and if the problem persists you can get it taken care of after you graduate AIT" .. Yeah.. That makes me feel comfortable. So I'll just have to deal with the chest congestion and shit for now. They gave me an albuterol inhaler to use before I run to help me out as far as my breathing goes, but an asthma test I took at the hospital earlier this week came back negative. Oh well. I'll just have to wait for a few weeks to go see a real doctor who knows what the hell they're doing. Yup so same old shit, different day. Hope you guys are doing well and I'll see ya in a few weeks I guess. Oh yeah and I *might* be able to take some leave before I go back to training. The First Sgt. is working on that for me, the Captain has to sign off on it. I'm going to try to take like 5 days of leave to come home and visit. If I get it, I'll definitely be coming to CC before I head back to Leonard Wood. This may be as soon as next weekend, if it gets approved. We'll see. Talk to ya later guys. -B
Soulrev
Well things have changed. I didn't get my leave because they threw me into another class and I returned to training on Monday afternoon. Now I'll be graduating June 8th so I think I'm going to come out to CC on June 9th hehe. I can't wait to get the hell out of here! Hope to see a bunch of you at CC that night. I'll be there! Wish me luck in my last 3 weeks of training. Gotta go for now. -B
Marblez
Have you heard about whether you will be getting that DC assignment?
Soulrev
Have you heard about whether you will be getting that DC assignment? Not yet. I'm not sure when I'll find out about that. I meet all the requirements plus I have an MOS that they are looking for so I would assume I have a pretty good chance of getting it. We'll see. I'm really hoping for Germany or Italy for a duty station though. I'd have the time of my life if I got either of those stations. Still no word on my assignment though but I should know this week or next. Some people have had to wait until they graduated before they got their orders. Our drill sergeants say the longer it takes for you to get your orders it usually means you're going to be sent somewhere overseas though, I hope they're right cuz I requested Germany and I'd be tickled to death if I got it. I know Germany needs 88m's though because a lot of people have been getting that as their duty station lately so I'd say my chances are pretty good. But, if I don't get it, it will be alright. Anywhere as long as they don't station me in Fort Leonard Wood heh. It's happened before. People have signed up, went to basic and AIT in FLW and then they turn around and get orders to report to Fort Leonard Wood for their station of duty. Man.. I'd be out to kill someone if that happened to me haha. This post sucks as far as stuff to do in your free time. The closest mall is like an hour and a half away, so you can just imagine how desolate it is out here. Well anyway, still doing good. I did my 915 (tractor trailer) road test this week and scored the highest out of the entire class of 115 people. This coming week we're doing the Load Handling System which is a truck that can actually pick up and unload connex crates without having to get out of the cab. Then, the week after that we do a field training excersize, then the week after that we're doing some driving simulators and packing up our shit and graduating. So I'm just excited as hell to get out of here and come home and show off my uniform and see my family and friends again. And, I'm getting married as soon as I get home, so I'd say life is going pretty good right now. See ya in a few weeks! -B
Soulrev
Well I'll be home Friday night. I'm done with my training and we're just cleaning up our gear to turn in and cleaning up the barracks. I had my overnight off-post pass last weekend, I got a couple new tattoos. Anyway I'm planning on coming out to CC on Saturday June 9th so be there! By the way I'm getting stationed in Ft. Polk, LA. Yay. It'll be hot and sweaty down there but that's ok. Hot weather doesn't bother me. From what I read in the Army Times the only unit deploying out of Ft. Polk in the next 6 months that's known for sure is the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division. So, I'm guessing I'll most likely be assigned to that unit. I don't know what unit I will be in for sure yet, I'll find that out later this week before Graduation. One thing's for sure though, I can't wait to get the hell out of Fort Lost in the Woods. Well I'm short on time and have some shopping to do so I'll catch up with you guys on Saturday. Peace. -B
