Then after we've used up all their usefulness, then we can send them to the gas ch.... showers.

Also since someone else brought it up, Hitler advocated gun control too.

Well they passed a law in VA today that makes it impossible for a mental patient to get a gun....before they were allowed 2...however....I don't think it helps because the guy that did this was not a mental patient anyway.

Not at the time.

I would be a little worried that such a law would deter people from getting help when they needed it: to avoid losing the right to own a gun (hunters and what-not especially).

I would rather have mental health professionals (with some sort of appeals process) be able to restrict gun access on a case-by-case basis. However, I don't know how practical that would be.

Just so people know. Felons can not own a gun, no matter how minor the felony they committed.

The law that VA passed closed a loop-hole. As the law used to stand, it didn't matter how crazy you were deemed by sociaty as long as any treatment was volintary. Even if you were found mentaly incompatent in court and sent to a mental hospital for treatment... you could still get a gun.. as that is always given as choice... prison or mental hospital. That choice was the loop hole. Even though it was court ordered, as in this case, a choice makes if volentary and not subject to a back ground check.

They fixed that.

Also, We do not have the 2nd Amendmant for Hunters. That a nice side affect for us hunters. We have it so that we can fight back and overthrow the government if they ever go too far.

That is true. In order to get a permit in Michigan the buyer must have there name, ss #, and DL # through a state and national database to see if they have any felony conviction's or Domestic Violence conviction against them.

Also if "one" is convicted of a felony after they have leagally purchased a gun the guns must be tuned over to the probation officer or local police department. My brother was convicted of minor felony and had registered guns. They already knew he had them and didn't have to report them because his name was in the system for having a registered hand gun. He was told by his Probation Officer to take it to the PD and they will be expecting him. If he didn't turn it in he'd be facing another felony charge and conviction. This is here in Michigan and in Wayne County.

Not legally. Felons can not own a gun of any type under Federal law. They fact that they have a gun is in and of itself a felon. You should have turned them in.

I didn't have to, the city (in Wayne County) caught them after some stupid stunt. They got away with it and in the end, was allowed to have the gun and register the gun.

There is no way around it if you have a felony no matter how minor the felony that is committed. My brother has felony for knowing writing bad checks to cover bills and house payments after he as layed off of work for a couple of months. Now I consider that a minor felony, but it doesn't matter because he still legally cannot no longer get a hand gun. They considered his felony so minor he didn't serve any jail time, only probation. Unfortunately he has a hard time getting a job because of his conviction.

Sorry for going off track there...

Oh and my stepfather is a retired State Trooper and he said there is no way in Michigan that you can legally posses a hand gun with any type of felonly. So, whoever you're speaking of is possesing a hand gun illegally.

Convicted of at least three different felonies, one was multiple count ... but according to the state of Michigan, he LEGALLY possesses more than a couple guns. He was even caught trying to register a handgun that it was unclear where it came from, the gun was confiscated by the city and held for investigation for a year. In the end charges were dropped and he was allowed to register the gun.

I respect your brother immensly by following the rules, but 99% (just my guess-timation) of convicted felons will not follow the rules and by state records will obtain a gun completely legally as far as THEY know.

Wow... but if they have been convicted how can they still legally have possesion according to the state? Sorry I keep questioning you, but I'm just confused and curious. LOL If there is some kind of loop hole my brother would love to know about it. LOL
