flowofwoe
Nnnoooooo, you should keep cutting it, it suits your face much better! You have a mouth like Ed Norton, short hair equals good. And no, I'm not in alaska anymore, I moved to Oregon last November. I'm MUCH happier here! Hmmm. . . I want it long one last time before the receding sets in. Here's me with even less hair:
flowofwoe
hehe. I'm familiar with Caucus stuff actually the "classes" concept is roughly analogous to the "forums" on DGN and topics are analogous to "Conversations" i guess we could say. Invision Power Services Suite (what DGN runs on) is actually several orders of magnitude more complex and extensible. But like with anything there's always features here and there we get used to that don't always have a 1 to 1 equation with different software packages. Especially since Caucus and IPB serve very different functions (although related) Even the SHITTTTTTTTTY EzBoard© has a few features even to this day stuff like Caucus / Workflow / Php Board or whatever "subject project conversation management" software we are talking about doesn't have, or they do have them but just don't work the way i'd prefer... *shakes angry fist at the world* hah Well, I have been known to code from time to time and I do have the old caucus-like system I started writing about umpteen million years ago that I still plan to go back to someday. You should make a list of all the features you want/like and then someday (read anyplace from next week to a decade) I can work it in.

Invision Power Board (and its related products) is its own universe really there is site after site dedicated to it, with scads and scads of custom modifications available (from small free ones to huge, universe-altering for-profit modifications) Its more about just finding the (already created) modification and installing it, and then working out the inevitable bugs. (GOD DAMN BUGS! makes shit that should take 20 minutes take 3 days grrr) The problem is to get them all to work together with your particular setup. Right now im banging my head against trying to get cookie tracking to work (along with a shitload of other stuff) But really the main issue with "online communities" isnt so much the tech. The tech is just incidental. Keeping the place active and getting help with promotion is the real challenge by far. Even though 'running the board" is pretty much a full time job, promoting the board is several orders of magnitue more difficult.

Troy Spiral (13)
Since there are scads of new people around I thought I might answer the "new member" questions: That theres a good man. Often people come back from being gone and somehow assume the place is exactly as it was when they left. Bad assumption heh. He'll even the people that DO remember you could always benifit from a refresher. Work? I am software and systems dev for Abraham Harrison LLC. . . so I get to work 3 feet from my bed. Damn, thats a long ass commute to work. Gas prices must be killing you. Married? Never Never as in "just have not been married yet" or Never as in "hell no not doing that" (or both) Other Stuff? Hmmm. . . Feel free to ask some things. Have you ever played Magic: The Gathering? (random question just poped out of nowhere hah)

I used to play "Magic: The Gathering" with a few friends, but haven't in a while. . .my decks are. . . someplace. . .
