Homicidalheathen
This lady I know is starting a new job so I will be helping her out on her old one P/T. I am a bit scared...I know I can handle it as she will train me but I have to learn how to insert a feeding tube and I am not an N/A nor do I plan to get certified. And she is going mental and is a bit abusive....verbally. I am sure I can handle it but its far away and will take up allot of time on the days I do go. I have never been around anyone with severe Ceribal Palsy before. She may not live much longer as she is already 33 and practically LIVES on ensure cans. I feel in a way I can be more patient than my friend at this point (she is sick of it) because I have been pretty sick myself before. I guess I should go on the internet and look it up so I know more about it....if anyone on here has experience with this let me know.
Marblez
Good luck with your new job. I surely would have difficulty taking care of someone like that - it takes a special person. I am surprised that they would allow you to do a feeding tube - but I guess family members are trained in that sort of thing all the time for homebound persons. Homicidalheathen
I almost had one myself. Its not so scary except the sterlization part. I know to keep it clean. Its that it takes 2 hours just to get one ensure can into her and she gets 3 a day. So half the time I will be sitting by her bedside. You have to go real slow and keep an eye on it mainly. She watches TV and shops which I hate. I don't mind the wiping poo and stuff part. I did raise twins. And I know all about getting in and out of places with wheel chairs. Her family just wants people that know her to take care of her yes, as she is a bit body shy and you have to wash and dress her. But it won't be too hard because she only wieghs like 80 lbs and they have a lift so thats good for my back as I don't weigh but maybe 12 lbs more than her.
