Nine Inch Nails

the eternal

Recommended Posts

I've only heard a couple of songs off of it (most of which I like).

Capital G is stupid, but has an excellent message (from the snippet I heard on Vampire Freaks, which was a snippet because I was in a hurry)

You either get it or you don't I guess.

My favorite album was pretty hate machine, but I have nearly equal amounts of love for both downward spiral and the fragile.

Since then, I think I've just sort of failed to grow in the same direction as Trent. I WANT to get excited about this album... but I'm just not feeling it. Hey may be growing as an artist, and a person, and whatever, but I'm not growing as a listener.

I just listened to the whole thing today

its not a bad cd but the music itself seems to be just a very small part of an idea trent seems to have about the world in the year 2022

theres a few websites around about how the goverment controls people and drugs the water nothing that really hasnt been done before though i do like the idea of the presence which is hands that seem to be reaching down from the sky

as long as the idea is seen all the way through and the music becomes more of a part of it then its not bad but as a stand alone album its nothing great

I'm gonna go ahead and say I loved it more than I thought I would have. It's driving and sexy and keeps my attention, it's fairly fierce, and it doesn't necessarily sound like he's just re-using himself (Much like Manson and Maynard did). I dunno that's what I got from it, but you're also reading a post by the same person who loved The Fragile (because most people I talk to say they HATE it, which baffles me entirely). Well, if anything, there's something I'm sure all of us can agree on: It's a MASSIVE jump in a better direction than that last "album", With Teeth.

I was so excited to get this album, but so far I am not into it. I felt the same way about With Teeth when I first got it too, but I now I am in love with that album. I am hoping this happens with this album, but I kinda don't think it will. It just seems to be lacking something. There are about 2 songs that grab my attention and the rest just seem to be filler songs. I am going to keep listening to it and hope that it will grow on me.

I have heard Capital G numerous times on the radio - I will have to relate it to a train wreck. I can't stand the song but yet I don't change the station. What I dislike is the tone in his voice, the lift in the melody, reminds me of Red Hot Chili Peppers.

... I still haven't picked this up yet. I like everything Trent Reznor has put out, ....up until With Teeth. Something about that Lp just..... I don't know.... It just doesn't hold my attention. I'll play a couple of tracks , then that's it. ...... So I've been hesitant to pick up the new one.

I know Trent is going through A lot of bullshit with the record label and has been saying that he's going back to more experimental stuff once he's finished out his contract ( wich I think is one or two more albums )

Trent's "comeback" in the past few years = ZZZZzzzzzZZZZZzzzzz

now, if you want the kind of music he was putting out before...and should have been intelligent enough to still make....thats easy...the band is called Tomahawk, their lead singer is mike Patton (Faith No More), and their stuff is absolutely brilliant.
