Hehe...I always thought the term 'homophobic' was funny, since it means that you FEAR homosexuals. I mean, what would anyone be afraid that they were going to do, come in and redecorate your house?

ROFL! That made me laugh. And I needed that laugh....

You Are 0% Homophobic

You're open minded, tolerant, and accepting.

And you're not homophobic in the least :-)

taken from merriam-webster:

Main Entry: ho·mo·pho·bia

Pronunciation: "hO-m&-'fO-bE-&

Function: noun

: irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals

So it's not just a FEAR of them, but feelings of distaste, or aversion.

(I know, you were making a joke, it was funny, but then for me, this was more funny.)

So, if we take the phrase literally...

Main Entry: 1ho·mo

Pronunciation: 'hO-(")mO

Function: noun

Inflected Form(s): plural homos

Usage: often capitalized

Etymology: New Latin Homin-, Homo, from Latin, human being -- more at HOMAGE

: any of a genus (Homo) of hominids that includes modern humans (H. sapiens) and several extinct related species (as H. erectus and H. habilis)

and...

Main Entry: -phobia

Function: noun combining form

Etymology: New Latin, from Late Latin, from Greek, from -phobos fearing, from phobos fear, flight, from phebesthai to flee; akin to Lithuanian begti to flee, Old Church Slavic bezati

1 : exaggerated fear of <acrophobia>

2 : intolerance or aversion for <photophobia>

It means "fear of hominids," or "fear of humans"

So homophobia, taken literally, just means that you fear your fellow humans. Which is really fun logic to use on seriously staunch "homophobes."

:ice:

Yeah, I'm bored today.

And for the record, I scored zero percent.

i think the word "homo" meant "same" before it was the genus for hominids, and i think that's why they used it for that purpose.

so homophobia could also mean "fear of sameness."

god i am so argumentative lately

No you're not....

I thought of that too. That's actually what I had before I broke into the webster library of doom.

Heh... actually, if we look at it that way, "fear of sameness" could also be interpreted very loosely as "fear of self," which is just RIFE with other issues.

most straight men kinda fear penises, don't they?

My boyfriend, who is not gay but also not homophobic, thinks that penises are much more visually pleasing than vaginas. He doesn't get aroused by them, but he thinks that, from a purely aesthetical standpoint, they're beautiful. I don't think he's interested in putting one in his mouth or anus, unless I requested that he do so for MY pleasure, but he's certainly not afraid of them.

But yes, I suppose you're right. I think it might be more accurate to say that most straight men kinda fear penises that belong to other men.
