Want To See Why I'm Angry?

Recommended Posts

I was written up because a customer wanted something for nothing, so she lied about me to my bosses. I have NEVER been written up. In my former store in MD, I was praised. I was appreciated and loved. I transfer here with the promise of promotion, only to find out that I was pushed on these people. They did NOT want me in that store, but their DM placed me there. I was written up for:

Unprofessional Behavior

Discourteous/Customer Complaint

Diruptive/Inappropriate Conduct

And this is what they wrote in my file, as I have the copy:

"Refusing to assist customer and not following management protocol. (NOT TRUE) Brenda made up her own rules again in regards to charging a fee for testing makeup. (NOT TRUE!! MAKEOVERS ARE $30.00, TRYING A NEW PRODUCT IS FREE OF CHARGE) Brenda's abrasive remarks led to the customer calling to complain and potential loss of customers. (I WAS NOT ABRASIVE. I WAS IN AN AMAZING MOOD) Brenda's lack of action to contact a manager and follow Ulta's policy and procedure resulted in this corrective action.(I WAS MANAGEMENT AT MY OLD STORE. I DIDN'T THINK I NEEDED HELP) Brenda has been coached on her tone, lack of action, and commitment to providing excellent customer service. (THEY THINK I HAVE AN ATTITUDE BECAUSE I WAS BORN/RAISED IN BALTIMORE.) Brenda needs to leave her past history with her former store behind her as we desire her to excel in her position at B******* while establishing her footprints. (MY PAST STORE WAS ALL I KNEW. AND I WAS HELD IN FAIRLY HIGH REGARD, EVEN AFTER I STEPPED DOWN AS MANAGER)"

They then proceeded to tell me that my former DM and all the GMs in my former district were FIRED. I was upset as it was, and this made it worse. So, I cried the whole way home, and then called my old store just a bit ago. I wanted to check on them. I was worried. They told me that the DM left to start his own business and that NO ONE in management was fired.

These chicks are out to get me. Now that everyone in my old district is finding out what was said, they're going to want my blood and my first born.....

I had something similar happen to me, way back when I first started medical transcription. My co-workers were doing cherry-picking and giving me, the newbie, all the impossible reports. They ended up doing everything possible to mess me up. It ended up only helping me in the end because I learned to do all kinds of reports and surgeries.

After several long years I ended up checking out an opportunity in another hospital. I was hired in there and it was like night and day, wonderful place to work, and I eventually moved into editing and then on to a company that trained me to do editing from home.

I ended up making a ton more than they did and OMG was it sweeeet when I dropped by to visit and they asked me about things.

Karma is an unforgiving bitch! I hope it works fast for you.

Yeah, it doesn't make any sense when you look at that. I hope things work out so that they will see they were mistaken. It looks like they are liars though, for one thing, because they told you people were fired when they weren't.

Honestly, they sound a bit nuts!

I'm like a red-headed stepchild. They did NOT want me. I was forced on them. I just don't think that they have to behave like this. I came from a store where we worked so well together. We were like family. Did they not think I'd find out what was happening?? This is so middle school. It's just sad. And I cannot believe that I cried in front of them!! I'm so good at not letting people get to me.

At least I WAS......

Do you want a Public Relations consultant specializing in customer service and crisis management to shove a boot up their ass? Because I'll do it for free.

It's a greater loss to a company to lose a top employee than 10 part-time customers. And to make any employee feel undervalued and unappreciated ... well, some have been known to go postal.

Only if you promise to wear latex while you do it.

she has the legal right to filre a harrassment charge with the department of Labor.

She has the right to reveiw her personnel file and to place a report of her own that states that she does nto concur and why.

She has the right to refute the charges against her and demand a exhaustive record of her being trained on this procedure specifically that she is being chastized for.

She has the right to document everythign she posted here, to include what she was told about her former staff being fired, to include the time date and source of that fictious information levied at her to make her knees buckle.

its up to you Bren, if the fight is worth it, but you CAN make them regret singeling you out, and you'll find that in most circumstances when thigns are obviously petty and personal, those supervisors who are hassling you often fail to make sure they do things within policy and within labor law limits. The burdon of proof is alwasy on their end. Document everything, with names, times and dates abnd be sickeningly professional when you do it but make your intentions clear that you will be fighting it. Also have them notate if and when you reveiwed your file and make a list of all documented information within it and then document THAT as well.

Yeah, no kidding. We're going through some severe turnover at the job I just started with new management, and I'm worried about losing my job to a couple of people there who were very buddy buddy with the old corrupt management.

That sux Brenda. This isn't the first I've heard of this sort of thing happeneing in salons either. Don't know if it's just a Detroit thing.

This place isn't just a salon, it's a retail store. I have over a year and a half invested in this company. If my old store had their way, I'd be back in Baltimore. They had to get my review ready before I moved here, but faxed it for my new manager to administer. My review was GLOWING. And, I could just tell that my new manager didn't like it. You know how people force niceties? That's what she was doing when she read my review and gave me my raise.

There are so many lies floating around that store, it's sick.

dont feel alone peeps, I'm going thru my own set of ordeals at work here on my end as well.

for me, I'm not up for a great big showdown, but I've definately done it in the past with a nationwide employer and I learned a great deal. Unless of course, my boss tries to burn me for vacation time or anything like that (which I've seen him do with others) when I quit. If it comes to that, then yes I'll fight him legally. I've also come to realize that here in MI, employers definately DO push the envelope with what they can get away with and I've seen a disturbing trend of basic abuse in many forms here...mostly because people are desperate for work, you'll just take it on the chin.

in the meantime, I'm taking as many unorthodox steps as I can to pave a way out of there and into a new situation....thats what you need to keep doing Brenda. You know what you need to do? set up a manicure / pedicure station in a cool tattoo shop, or rotate around to a few of them...I could totally see you making $$$ off of chicks who are waiting around for their turn to get ink or waiting for their freinds. Holy shit thats a damn good idea.

I work in a salon on Gratiot. If anyone wants to know where so that they can make appointments, PM me. I can't quit the hellhole till I make more $$$ in the salon. It wouldn't be fair to my kids.

I'll make an appointment post delivery (August). I don't want to expose myself to all the chemicals till I pop out these two chitlins!!

If you are having two, you will have twice as much difficulty seeing your toes. A pedi won't hurt you or the babes.

Now that's salesmanship Tom Hopkins would be proud of!

I agree with Steven; open your own salon or freelance through other places. I have a friend out in Colorado who opened a salon last year with a business partner. If it's something you're really interested in doing I can get you into contact with her so you can get an insider's view.
