Front Line Assembly

Is an introduction even necessary? True legends of the electro scene.

Front Line Assembly is the best known of the various electronic music projects undertaken by the prolific Vancouver-based duo of Bill Leeb (vocals, synthesizers) and Rhys Fulber (synthesizers, samplers). After working in the mid-'80s under the pseudonym Wilhelm Schroeder with Skinny Puppy, the Austrian-born Leeb formed the industrial/techno-based Front Line Assembly in 1986 with Fulber -- who initially joined on as a studio assistant, but has come full-circle as the other creative force behind the project.

From it's initial beginnings to it's current formation (including Chris Petersen, Jason Filipchuk and Jeremy Inkel) the band has unleashed classic genre-defining albums and an endless amount of industrial-club hits that are dark, futuristic and often times complex. The bands sound delivers heavy pounding beats, atmospheric strings, percolating melodies, dynamic synths and Bill Leeb's trademark vocals fused together to a tight sub-atomic level. Not to be forgotten is Front Line Assembly's legendary attention to detail and seamless pristine production.

Front Line Assembly live is a sensory overload. A full on attack of man versus machinery. Explosive and energetic. Not to be missed.

Acumen Nation

Acumen Nation blend loud, politically oriented hard rock with techno industrial influences to create one of the most powerful sounds in Chicago music. The energy of this band is incredible; the music they create is a potent driving force that captivates audiences and leaves them exhausted. A sound rife with violence and humor, irony and anger, built to offend, educate and entertain. Fans of Mindless Self Indulgence will not be dissapointed. They often incorporate self produced short film clips as a back drop. These films act in cooperation with the music to provide an all encompassing audio visual sensory experience that is most overwhelming.

The Start

Based out of Sudden Valley, California, The Start recently signed to Metropolis Records where the bands debut is expected to be released in June.

Expect doses of noise-pop, shoegazing dreaminess and Cure-esque moods. Blissed-out fatalism. Keyboards that swirl like a hyperventilating kiss: guitars that throttle songs black and blue. Angry synths and beats that sound plucked from your local watering hole's goth night all delivered with flailing rock abandon.

Aimee Echo and Jamie Miller formed the START in the Fall of 1998, citing a mutual love of dark wave, dance music and art rock. The prophetic nature of their name revealed itself quickly as they would be among the first of the crop of the new New Wave, alongside bands like the Faint and Le Tigre. Fans of the band Garbage will not want to miss this act.
