Saephyr
I have finally won my disability case and I'm happy for that. I have however, some mixed opinions since I have gotten several different opinions as to how to handle my checks and such. I have been told not to show such as $1 being left over after doing bills once I got the checks or whatever written because the government will reasses my monies as a 'leftover' amount that I must not need if I didn't spend it BLAH BLAH BLAH SO my questions are many and my knowledge is limited. If anyone gets checks due to disability I would like it if you can share with me some of your bad experinces or even good ones (and or problems) with your payments. If I don't get direct deposit, then I have to chance getting my checks on sparatic dates. Not good. My monies essentially, goes to my folks since they are handling my finances and have been for over 2 years now. :blushing I would personally like to be in control of my own monies and such since I see an opportunity to do so. My friends and family have been more than generous with me and I know I have to keep receipts for everything I spend on so that aside, what advice would you give to someone in this position??? I really don't need much else to make me crazy so whatever you all can advise I would like to hear b 4 I end up If you have websites that I should read or pamphlets I need then let me know so I can okay then? Thanks for the support to all who have stuck with me through this shit, or those who even tried because I know it was difficult to do some days but hey...... I am worth it afterall kittens right? I was on SS for a few years until I started working again. But honestly. I had money saved in the bank, they dont see it as being left over money:) But they do want you to caculate your bills and such, every year you will recieve an order form to fill out in which you have to add up your yearly bills and write down what you spend it on. Your getting it because your ill. so therefore it wont be against you if you have money left over.. Good luck to you, any more questions just pm me:) And I would go with direct deposit, youll get it the first of every month, and without the worry of your check getting lost in the mail.. Velvet Tears
My cousin is on Disablity and he said that all he's ever heard is that you can't have more than $2,000 in the bank at a time.
Rayne
My cousin is on Disablity and he said that all he's ever heard is that you can't have more than $2,000 in the bank at a time. Yep. We're having a problem getting my dad on it ... he is honestly disabled since an incident at work a couple years ago ... but he just took a settlement from his company so he has too much money in the bank right now. But no, there's nothing that says you can't have money left over. Just make sure you fill out their paperwork properly when it asks you to itemize your bills and such each year. Saephyr
I won the case with Binder & Binder. They are a no games firm and they honestly do all the paperwork and running for you so you so dont have to be all pressured about it since you're ill. If you haven't hired anyone I'd call them or I haev a guy downriver that I use for EVERYTHING but he was dealign with a personal issue at the time so I went with B & B per his advice. I liked them a lot. I still have worries abotu the government trying to reevaluate my cash adn cutting my funds.
